Review Disclaimer
When it comes to our reviews and ratings, we thought it would be helpful if you had a better understanding of our personal preferences (what we like and don’t like), along with if there are any dietary restrictions.
Here’s a breakdown of not only who is doing the reviews, but a little more information about what each of us likes and doesn’t like food and drink-wise.
Shannon (Founder)
- Likes: Almost everything
- Dislikes: Beers that taste “stinky,” anything too salty
- Dietary Restrictions: None
Heather (Editor)
- Likes: Strong flavors, anything made out of potatoes, white wines, all beers (especially stouts and wheat beers), doesn’t mind sweet (plain fruit is NOT a dessert. Ever.)
- Dislikes: Things that are too spicy, anything with a bone still in it, cocktails with too much whiskey or tequila (thanks to having too much fun in college), some red wines, most IPAs
- Dietary Restrictions: Shellfish allergy
Felicia (Content Manager)
- Likes: Mezcal, savory drinks, stouts/lagers/wheats/sour beers, vinegar, tart/sour items, chocolate, fresh vegetables and fruits, red meat
- Dislikes: Ciders, sweet drinks, anything milky or creamy, chili powder, cumin, weirded out by textures, mayonnaise, saucy/wet food, cream-filled pastries, artificial fruit flavors, cooked fruits, frozen items (drinks or ice cream)
- Dietary Restrictions: None
Allyson (Managing Writer)
- Likes: Cheesecake (the more sweets, the better), anything mint, hazy IPAs and wheat beers (big beer fan), tofu and most Impossible dishes, mushrooms
- Dislikes: Wine (only likes a few dry ones), cream ales and stouts/porters, super sweet cocktails, floral flavors (lavender, rose), anything almond-flavored, things that are too spicy, olives, meat and seafood (see below)
- Dietary Restrictions: Vegetarian (personal choice)
Photos & Reviews
Traditional Macaroni and Cheese
A traditional mac and cheese made with herbed Panko bread crumbs.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Small serving for us, breadcrumbs add nice crunch but overall super bland.
Heather: How do you eff up Mac and cheese? A box of Kraft Dinner would have been better.
Felicia: A bit gummy and boring. Not the highlight of this booth but is maybe a good option for kids (be aware there are panko crumbs on it, though).
Allyson: Possibly a good option for kids.
Cowboy Macaroni and Cheese
Cowboy mac and cheese made with smoked pork belly, brisket burnt ends, pickled peppers, onion straws, and barbecue aioli.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Great portion, barbecue aioli is a standout flavor with the cheese.
Heather: The burnt ends are fantastic. So damn tender. Like me. Flavor is strong without being overpowering.
Chili-Cheese Macaroni and Cheese
A new plant-based mac & cheese made with sour cream and cheddar cheese.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Good portion, not a great cheese flavor, lots of tasty toppings.
Heather: Tastes like a school lunch.
81Bay Brewing Co. Lemon Hazy IPA
Lemon Hazy IPA from 81Bay Brewing Co. out of Tampa, FL.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Light and delicious. Would order the larger option.
Heather: WHO AM I? All day, every day IPA.
Felicia: This has a strong lemon flavor, which I liked. It is a bit hoppy (which makes sense as it’s an IPA), but it’s refreshing for an IPA.
Allyson: Wow. I really like this — a lot. Can I get another glass?
Catena White Clay Sémillon-Chenin
This Catena White Clay Sémillon-Chenin is from Argentina.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Super light and flavorful. Goes nicely with the heavier food items at this booth.
Heather: Because the other stuff is so good. It’s not bad. Other stuff is BETTER.
Evolution by Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir
A Pinot Noir from Sokol Blosser winery in Willamette Valley, OR.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Chilled, light flavor especially for a red, refreshing, liked this a lot.
Heather: Freaking so good. That says a LOT because I don’t love reds. But this is so smooth. Like my legs (new razor last night, IYKYK).
Felicia: I like Pinot Noirs in general, but this one is just okay.
Allyson: I’m not a Pinot Noir fan and I’d pass next time.
