The Alps Menu & Review (2023 Epcot Food & Wine Festival)

It’s rare that we love everything at a festival booth, but that’s exactly how feel about The Alps booth.

This is where you can find two Raclette Swiss cheese dishes (one with and without ham). You get a lot for your money and they both are super delicious.

A Raclette is a popular Swiss dish that is based on the heating of cheese and then scraping off the melted part. It is also usually served with potatoes, like it is at this marketplace.

As for the dessert, this is a new item for 2023. It’s a Dark Chocolate Fondue with Berries, Pound Cake and Meringues — it is seriously so good. That warm chocolate fondue? Yum. It might not be our first choice on a hot day, but we can’t deny that it’s divine.

Important: The Dark Chocolate Fondue dish isn’t plant-based, despite being originally listed as so.

While we like the Frozen Rosé, it is on the pricier side ($9) for what you get. But, overall, this is a reasonably priced booth.

If you’re also in the mood for some German food, you’re in luck, because The Alps booth is right next to the Germany booth.

Here’s everything you need to know about The Alps booth, including reviews, photos, and our must-trys.

Overview

  • Location: Near the Germany pavilion
  • Nearby booths: Germany, Spain, Kenya, Refreshment Outpost
  • Nearby seating areas: Plenty of outdoor seating (some with umbrellas) in the Germany pavilion

When it comes to our reviews and ratings, we thought it would be helpful if you had a better understanding of our personal preferences (what we like and don’t like), along with if there are any dietary restrictions.

Here’s a breakdown of not only who is doing the reviews, but a little more information about what each of us likes and doesn’t like food and drink-wise.

Shannon (Founder)

  • Likes: Almost everything
  • Dislikes: Beers that taste “stinky,” anything too salty
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Heather (Editor)

  • Likes: Strong flavors, anything made out of potatoes, white wines, all beers (especially stouts and wheat beers), doesn’t mind sweet (plain fruit is NOT a dessert. Ever.)
  • Dislikes: Things that are too spicy, anything with a bone still in it, cocktails with too much whiskey or tequila (thanks to having too much fun in college), some red wines, most IPAs
  • Dietary Restrictions: Shellfish allergy

Felicia (Content Manager)

  • Likes: Mezcal, savory drinks, stouts/lagers/wheats/sour beers, vinegar, tart/sour items, chocolate, fresh vegetables and fruits, red meat
  • Dislikes: Ciders, sweet drinks, anything milky or creamy, chili powder, cumin, weirded out by textures, mayonnaise, saucy/wet food, cream-filled pastries, artificial fruit flavors, cooked fruits, frozen items (drinks or ice cream)
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Allyson (Managing Writer)

  • Likes: Cheesecake (the more sweets, the better), anything mint, hazy IPAs and wheat beers (big beer fan), tofu and most Impossible dishes, mushrooms
  • Dislikes: Wine (only likes a few dry ones), cream ales and stouts/porters, super sweet cocktails, floral flavors (lavender, rose), anything almond-flavored, things that are too spicy, olives, meat and seafood (see below)
  • Dietary Restrictions: Vegetarian (personal choice)

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham

Warm, melted Swiss Raclette cheese served with Alpine ham, baby potatoes, cornichons, and baguette bread.

Alps Raclette Ham
  • Price: $5.75
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 3.7/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Salty (mostly from the ham) and nice mix of textures, but overall fairly disappointing. Wanted to like it more.
Heather: HUGE portion. And, very good flavor. Loved the little pickles, but there was kind of a funky cheese smell.
Felicia: I loved this. It is hearty, huge serving, and so flavorful. The potatoes are soft, the cheese has a sharp, pungent flavor, the ham is salty and delicious. And the pickles add a nice vinegar kick. Would gladly get this and the frozen rose as a meal. Bread is very dry, though.

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes

Warm, melted Raclette Swiss cheese served with baby potatoes, cornichons, and baguette bread.

Warm Raclette The Alps
  • Price: $5.25
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 3.8/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Maybe a good vegetarian option, but lacks much flavor.
Heather: Just like the one with ham, but without the ham. HUGE portion. And, very good flavor. Loved the little pickles, but there was kind of a funky cheese smell.
Felicia: Exactly the same as the other savory item at this booth but this one is served without the ham. Good option for those that don’t eat meat or don’t care for ham.
Allyson: I think this is a solid vegetarian option. Love the cheese, potatoes, and pickles.

Dark Chocolate Fondue

A dark chocolate fondue served with berries, pound cake, and meringues.

Alps Fondue
  • Price: $5.50
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 4.0/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Yes it is too hot for this but the chocolate is delicious and the rays of the sun keeps it nice and warm!
Felicia: This is super delicious. Warm rich chocolate with fruit and cake to dip in it. But just hard to eat in the heat. Would give it a 5 in winter.
Ally: This is really good. That chocolate fondue? Yes. But also on a hot day, oof, it’s a little too hot for me. But I’m still giving it a higher rating. Love that their are fruit options to dip as well.

Stiegl Brewery Key Lime Radler

A Key Lime infused beer brewed by Stiegl Brewery out of Salzburg, Austria.

Alps Beer
  • Price: $5.50 (6 oz.) / $9.50 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 3.3/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Incredibly refreshing…you can definitely taste the key lime and cream. A great, easy to drink beer. But are there key limes in the Alps?!!
Felicia: Not as sweet as most radlers and the lime flavor is refreshing. Not for me but it’s good.
Allyson: A little to sweet for my liking.

Huber Vision Grüner Veltliner

From Austrian vineyard Grüner Veltliner, Huber Vision is known for its green apple fruity aromas, with hints of lemon, lime and peaches.

Alps Riesling
  • Price: $6.00
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 2.8/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Dry and bland. Didn’t love.
Heather: It feels like there are a lot fewer wine choices this year, which makes it easier for me to recommend them. This one really pretty good.
Felicia: This white isn’t too sweet or tart. It’s unremarkable, though.
Allyson: I actually don’t mind this wine. It’s not too sweet.

Frozen Rosé

Alps Frose
  • Price: $9.00
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 4.3/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Cute cup, being frozen makes it more refreshing
Heather: I do want to rose all day with this one. I’m so so so hot. This is so so so not.
Felicia: Generally not a fan of rose or frozen drinks, but this was both refreshing and delicious. Nice and tart and not too sweet.
Allyson: A standard frozen rose. It tastes great, but not sure it’s $9 worth.
