Flavors of America Menu & Review (2023 Epcot Food & Wine Festival)

Flavors of America Menu & Review (2023 Epcot Food & Wine Festival)

Flavors of America is a new-ish booth this year. Why “new-ish”? Well, it replaced Hops & Barley.

Even though they have two different names, the theme of Hops & Barley remains the same at Flavors of America. You can still order American beer and dishes, including that carrot cake.

You can find the marketplace in the American Adventure pavilion, on the opposite side of the area from Regal Eagle Smokehouse.

There’s always lots of outdoor seating (some covered) and from this location you can easily listen to the musical groups performing at the America Gardens Theatre during the Eat to the Beat Concert Series.

As for the menu items, we really loved everything here except the Cioppino, which is a Seafood Stew with Saffron-infused Tomato-Fennel Broth and Sourdough Crostini.

Mmm… what sounds better than a seafood stew while touring a theme park with extreme temperatures? We’d probably like this better if we weren’t dripping in sweat.

Here’s everything else you need to know about the Flavors of America booth, including reviews, photos, and our must-trys.

Overview

  • Location: In the America pavilion

When it comes to our reviews and ratings, we thought it would be helpful if you had a better understanding of our personal preferences (what we like and don’t like), along with if there are any dietary restrictions.

Here’s a breakdown of not only who is doing the reviews, but a little more information about what each of us likes and doesn’t like food and drink-wise.

Shannon (Founder)

  • Likes: Almost everything
  • Dislikes: Beers that taste “stinky,” anything too salty
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Heather (Editor)

  • Likes: Strong flavors, anything made out of potatoes, white wines, all beers (especially stouts and wheat beers), doesn’t mind sweet (plain fruit is NOT a dessert. Ever.)
  • Dislikes: Things that are too spicy, anything with a bone still in it, cocktails with too much whiskey or tequila (thanks to having too much fun in college), some red wines, most IPAs
  • Dietary Restrictions: Shellfish allergy

Felicia (Content Manager)

  • Likes: Mezcal, savory drinks, stouts/lagers/wheats/sour beers, vinegar, tart/sour items, chocolate, fresh vegetables and fruits, red meat
  • Dislikes: Ciders, sweet drinks, anything milky or creamy, chili powder, cumin, weirded out by textures, mayonnaise, saucy/wet food, cream-filled pastries, artificial fruit flavors, cooked fruits, frozen items (drinks or ice cream)
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Photos & Reviews

Italian Hot Beef Sandwich

An Italian hot beef sandwich with shaved beef, spicy giardiniera, and au jus on a French roll.

America Italian Beef
  • Price: $6.25
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 3.0/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Just ok…it is so spicy and so salty that I can’t tell what the flavor is supposed to be???
Felicia: This is delicious. The bread to meat ratio is a little off but it all is so flavorful and the jus is nice and salty. Good portion size. Best savory dish at the booth.

Cioppino: Seafood Stew

A seafood stew with saffron-infused tomato-fennel broth and crostini.

America Cioppino
  • Price: $7.50
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 1.0/5

Our Thoughts

Felicia: Was served kind of cool (unintentionally) and the seafood is so dry and rubbery and fishy. The stew sauce is kind of sweet but tastes like jarred spaghetti sauce. Terrible choice in July. Do not recommend.

Chilaquiles

Corn tortilla chips tossed in salsa verde with ranchero chicken, queso fresco, cilantro-lime crema, and a soft-poached egg.

America Chilaquiles
  • Price: $6.75
  • Special Diets: Gluten-friendly
  • Rating: 3.5/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Delicious. I am not a soft poached egg fan, so I didn’t like that part, but the rest was super flavorful and a nice combo of spicy and tame.
Felicia: I don’t mind chilaquiles but this just isn’t good. The chicken is oddly sweet and the chips aren’t great. The egg seemed poached well but just not for me. Don’t want it.

Carrot Cake

A freshly baked individual sized carrot cake topped with cream cheese icing.

America Carrot Cake
  • Price: $4.50
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 4.8/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Big carrot cake lover. This didn’t disappoint.
Heather: I love this! Its “just” carrot cake but it is moist and the perfect level of sweet. Plus since it is carrot cake that means it is healthy.
Felicia: Solid dessert. Delicious carrot cake and the icing is good. Not too sweet. Overall, great dessert.
Allyson: This is just as good as last year. Seriously good carrot cake

Rogue Dreamland American Lager

A simple, crisp American lager brewed by Rogue Ales in Newport, OR. A portion of proceeds of sales of this beer go toward building skateparks around the world.
Note: this drink is also available in a flight.

America Lager
  • Price: $5.50 (6 oz.) / $9.50 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 4.0/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: It has been a long day and I’ve tried so many beers and this is just what I needed right now. The perfect beer after a long day at Epcot.
Felicia: Solid lager. It’s definitely an easy drinking beer and exactly what I want to consume while watching a concert in the America pavilion.
Allyson: A nice, light lager that isn’t too much on a hot day.

Goose Island Neon Beer Hug IPA

A tropical and citrus forward IPA brewed by Goose Island in Chicago, IL.
Note: this drink is also available in a flight.

America IPA
  • Price: $5.50 (6 oz.) / $9.50 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 4.3/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Is this an IPA? This feels like this is an IPA pretending to NOT be an IPA. But maybe it is an IPA and I just don’t know it? It isn’t bad, and it is very kind that it claims to hug me. Hoppy. Little bitter but overall pretty good!
Felicia: Love this IPA. It’s refreshing, nice mellow hop flavor, and not too bitter. This is an IPA for people that aren’t huge IPA fans.
Allyson: This is my favorite out of all the other beers at the both. Has a hoppiness to it that I like and good flavor.

Left Hand Brewing Sawtooth Amber Ale

An American style amber ale brewed by Left Hand Brewing in Longmont, CO.
Note: this drink is also available in a flight.

America Amber Ale
  • Price: $5.50 (6 oz.) / $9.50 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 4.0/5

Our Thoughts

Heather: Rich flavor – fantastic amber. Love Left Hand Brewing and am very excited to see them represented here.
Felicia: Slightly toasty tasting Amber. It’s not too overpowering and not at all bitter. Recommend this on its own or in the flight.
Allyson: A solid amber ale. Not my favorite, but still good.
