A deep dive into the Morocco pavilion (Jasmine, delicious food, art & history gallery)

A deep dive into the Morocco pavilion (Jasmine, delicious food, art & history gallery)

One of the most unique and best parts of Epcot is the World Showcase, which is home to a total of 11 countries.

Even though Epcot has several popular rides and many guests look forward to drinking around the world, visitors should consider taking the time to explore each pavilion to the fullest.

Each country has so much detail, great food and drink options, and unique souvenirs, to name a few. Some of the pavilions even have exclusive entertainment and character meet and greets!

If you want to know more about the Morocco pavilion at Epcot, we have you covered.

Here we take a deep dive into the country that just might have some of the best dining in the park, not to mention hidden spots that are perfect for escaping crowds and those hot temperatures.

It’s important to note that Disney took over the Morocco pavilion in 2020, along with all of its business operations (food, beverage, and merchandise locations).

This means some of the shops and restaurants are temporarily closed.

Previously, Morocco was one of the few pavilions that operated independently from Disney.

Despite Disney’s takeover (mainly due to the hardships of the pandemic), the Moroccan Embassy and Morocco Tourism Board still contribute as cultural consultants.

We will update this page whenever things are finally open again. Even though most of the stores are closed, Morocco is still worth exploring.

Morocco has some of the best dining locations in all of the World Showcase. There are 3 Quick Service and 2 Table Service spots. You really should give one of these a try.

Tangierine Café

Tangierine Café is normally a standard Quick Service restaurant, but it hasn’t reopened in its original form since 2020.

Currently, the dining location is operating as a festival booth and usually goes by “Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina.”

Even though the original menu isn’t being served right now, Tangierine Café works extremely well as a festival booth.

The offerings normally hit it out of the park. So much so, Tangierine Café is often one of our favorite booths of any festival.

If you’re not into Moroccan food and beverages or are unsure about trying something new, Tangierine Café is a good place to start.

These both can be ordered with or without alcohol.

Do not sleep on Spice Road Table.

It is one the best places to eat in the World Showcase. Plus, you can sit outside and enjoy gorgeous views of the lagoon.

Reservations are accepted here and they do also accept walk-ups. You can also join the walk-up list via the My Disney Experience app.

This is more of a “lounge” experience, meaning you’re able to order from a list of mediterranean small plates. Plus, they have a good-sized drink list.

Here are a few of our favorite menu items:

The House-made Hummus Fries are top-notch (and a little spicy). These are also plant-based.

Another superb plant-based offering is the Pomegranate-Chili Crispy Cauliflower, which is perfect for sharing (or eating all by yourself).

The Naan Spreads is just as delicious as it looks. It’s served with Hummus, Chermoula, Marinated Olives, Za’atar.

One of the more popular drinks is the Iced Mint Tea (with Bombay Sapphire Gin). It’s definitely minty, so avoid if you’re not a mint fan.

If it’s busy or you don’t want to eat here, there is a bar where you can order a beverage to-go as you walk around the World Showcase.

There’s also a charming seating area that is covered.

Not many people know Sangria Sips is back here, so it makes for a great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy a snack and beverage.

Seating Areas

Morocco has many different seating areas.

As you can see below, Tangierine Café has so many tables inside and outside.

Tip: Walk to the back of the pavilion for less crowds and noise.

All but one store is currently closed in the Morocco pavilion. Shopping has been inconsistent here ever since Disney took over the Morocco pavilion in 2020.

Morocco’s stores are some of the best, so it’s unfortunate that you can’t do a ton of shopping here right now. But — one store did recently reopen!

souk al magreb - morocco - epcot

Souk-Al-Magreb is open for business. Here, you can find Moroccan clothing, bags, jewelry, hats, and more. There’s even Aladdin merchandise available for purchase.

The Marketplace in the Medina symbolizes a Moroccan market and has so many items that you can purchase, like woven blankets, straw hats, and sheepskin wallets.

Sometimes you can find Moroccan entertainment on the stage at the front of the pavilion, like Atlas Fusion (seen below).

You’ll be able to find entertainment listed in the My Disney Experience app, which lists the daily schedule.

You can also ask a Cast Member if there is any entertainment for the day.

At Restaurant Marrakesh, there are usually belly dancers and live music to entertain diners. Unfortunately, this Table Service spot isn’t available at this moment in time.

But, if or when it does reopen, you’ll need a reservation to dine here and enjoy whatever live entertainment is offered.

If you want to meet Jasmine, go to the Morocco pavilion.

There are a few activities for you to experience in the Morocco pavilion.

Gallery of Arts and History

Did you know there is a Gallery of Arts and History exhibit here?

As soon as you enter the pavilion, you’ll see bright red doors to your left (you can’t miss them).

Right now, the theme of the gallery is: “Race Against the Sun: Ancient Technique to Modern Competition.”

It first debuted in 2019.

As described by Disney, the exhibit “showcases two incredible modern-day competitions — Marathon des Sables (Marathon of the Sands) and Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc (Rally of the Gazelles) — as well as the rich history of the ancient inhabitants of the Sahara, the Berbers.”

FYI: There are sometimes benches inside here too. This is the best place to get away from people and cool off on a hot day.

Kidcot Fun Stop

Like the 10 other country pavilions in the World Showcase, Morocco also has a Kidcot Fun Stop location.

This really is a fun family-friendly activity — that is also complimentary. It’s also great at keeping kids interested in the World Showcase.

At each stop, you collect an activity card detailing facts and activities featuring the culture and traditions of each country.

It’s that easy!

You can find Morocco’s Kidcot stop in the Marketplace in the Medina.

Picture Spot

Disney PhotoPass photographer has been spotted here on certain occasions, but if not, be sure to grab a photo by the main fountain.

Not only is it gorgeous, but features a lovely backdrop.

Best Fireworks Views

There are 2 main areas to watch fireworks in Morocco.

The first is to the left of Spice Road Table towards the France pavilion. This area has a lot of standing room.

Even though the center of the lagoon is a bit farther away, the views are just fine and the show is still very much enjoyable.

harmonious views - Morocco - epcot

The second viewing area is to the right of Oasis Sweets & Sips toward the Japan pavilion.

There are plenty of open spaces, but you also want to be careful that your view isn’t blocked by trees or any other structure.

harmonious views - Morocco - epcot

FYI: There is also a fireworks dining package available at Spice Road Table that you can purchase if you want to sit and eat during the show.

Other reasons Morocco makes a great spot to watch fireworks:

  • The pavilion has restrooms (important if you’re waiting awhile for the show to start)
  • There are good food and drink options in Morocco (and France which is close by)
  • Activities to keep little ones entertained (coin press machine, Kidcot Fun Stop)
  • Lots of shops to walk through for anyone who needs sometime to do while waiting
  • Spice Road Table has a fireworks dining viewing package

What to look out for:

  • Make sure you have as clear of a line of site as possible between you and the screen(s). You’ll likely have a few small trees in the way, but in general, Morocco (especially between Morocco & France) has some great views.

Here’s what the view looks like from Morocco:

Here’s what the view looks like from Spice Road Table if you have the dining package:

Morocco harmonious views at spice road table

While we don’t consider the views from Spice Road Table that great, especially if you’ve never seen the nighttime show before, the other areas are decent viewing spots.

Be sure to grab a spot for the show at least 60 minutes before showtime. Space can fill up quickly.

You can find showtimes listed in the My Disney Experience app.

There are two internal routes: one that runs between Canada and Morocco and the other that runs between Mexico and Germany.

The Friendship boats will start running across World Showcase Lagoon usually around 11 a.m.

Boat schedules can vary depending on several factors, like weather.

The boats typically run about every 15 minutes. They will cease running at a certain point each evening due to fireworks. A final departure time will be posted at each dock, so pay attention.

There is a set of restrooms to the right of Tangierine Café, as you walk toward the France pavilion.

Festival Exclusives

Like every other country in the World Showcase, different festival exclusives can be found in the Morocco pavilion.

This is for all 4 Epcot festivals: Food and WineFestival of the HolidaysFestival of the Arts, and Flower and Garden.

These include (to name a few):

  • Festival food booths, like Flavors of the Medina located inside Tangierine Café during Food and Wine and Flower and Garden

  • A lively band recreates the fun of street festivals and the holiday season across Morocco during Festival of the Holidays
