Quick tip of the day

Listener Mary emailed this tip:
“One tip people may not know since it doesn’t happen very often — We decided to do rope drop at 7 a.m. at Animal Kingdom on MLK day because we figured it would be a busy day. BUT we had decided not to do Flight of Passage because we didn’t have a fast pass and we have little kids.

My plan was to go straight to Safari. I was SO proud of myself as we walked up at 7:05 (I actually said to my family, ‘we did it’) only to be stopped at the entrance. Even though the app showed the safari ride was open, the cast members told us that they never open attractions that involve the animals before 8am. Apparently that is too early to get them going.

The rest of the park was empty aside from Pandora, and we would have been fine getting there at 8. Cast members said the 7am time is basically just for the Flight of Passage line. Luckily my husband got to go ride Everest a couple times with no line so I wasn’t in too much trouble! Just a tip for the rare times that AK opens that early.”

I’m curious how FastPass will work for Toy Story Midway Mania because we are going on our Disney trip in late March, and we were able to make FastPass reservations for that attraction 60 days in advance. Those FastPass reservations are still present on my My Disney Experience plans, so I’m assuming (hoping!) there is still going to be a FastPass queue. I think you had said there would be no FastPasses, just standby, but maybe that’s not completely true for resort guests?

I just got back from a five night stay at Coronado Springs and had the best time! Even though I went during the busy season I barely waited in any lines and was able to do everything I wanted!

For original vintage pieces, search “Lefton Christmas ceramics” or “Napco Christmas ceramics.” These often run you $100+ and can usually be found on Etsy, eBay, and other resale stores.

For less expensive replicas, check out VermontCountryStore.com which has a small - but more affordable - collection, including the trio of candy cane girls.

They haven’t been appearing as reliably as Alice, Mary Poppins, Joy, and Winnie the Pooh, but be sure to be on the lookout when passing the Royal Sommerhus in Norway where they might just show up.
