2024 Guide to Easter at Disney World

2024 Guide to Easter at Disney World

The holidays are a popular time at Walt Disney World, especially Christmas and Halloween. But, what about Easter at Disney World?

Even though it’s not as big of a celebration in the parks, there are special ways Disney World celebrates Easter.

This year, Easter Sunday falls on March 31 and the following events will only run for a limited time.

Here’s what you can find:

Easter Events at Disney World

The Grand Cottage

The Grand Cottage at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is back for 2024.

Located in the lobby of the resort, it’s a cute little stand where guests can purchase Easter treats (just like they can at Grand Floridian’s gingerbread house during the holidays).

All sorts of goodies are sold here. We don’t have the complete list for 2024 yet, but there are typically cookies and cakes and chocolates, plus lots more, like:

  • Bunny Pop Flower Pot: Chocolate flower pot filled with jelly beans and three chocolate bunny pops (New)
  • Fruity Cereal Mickey Pop: Mickey-shaped fruity cereal crisped treat
  • The Easter Treat Box: Dark chocolate filled bunny, carrot blondie pop, marshmallow pop, carrot cake chocolate bark, confetti pop, and meringue nests
  • Easter Marshmallow Pop: Three large marshmallows dipped in a yellow chocolate coating topped with Easter quins
  • Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup: Layers of chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, and cookies ‘n cream pieces with springtime décor (Plant-based)
  • The Grand Egg: White chocolate egg filled with jelly beans sprayed in spring colors

Note: Both the Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup and Fruity Cereal Pop will also be available over at Gasparilla Island Grill (Quick Service restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian) from March 3 through April 1.

The Grand Cottage is open daily from March 3 through April 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Egg-stravaganza Scavenger Hunt

The Egg-stravangaza Scavenger Hunt (say that 5 times fast) is an Easter-themed activity that’s available for a limited-time at Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival.

You can purchase a map and stickers for $9.99 (plus tax) at either Disney Traders (in World Showcase plaza; towards Mexico) and World Traveler (at International Gateway), while supplies last.

Once you’re finished, you can bring your completed map to any of the locations listed above, where you’ll receive a prize, which this year is one of six different Easter egg charms.

Important: You don’t need to complete the Egg-stravaganza Scavenger Hunt in one visit or finish it all to receive the prize.

This is similar to other festival-exclusive scavenger hunts, like Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt that occurs every year throughout the entirety of Flower and Garden.

Elaborate Chocolate Easter Egg Displays

One of the most impressive Easter celebrations to happen at Disney World are the giant chocolate Easter egg displays.

Pastry chefs create these massive pieces of edible art in the shape of Easter eggs that also feature favorite Disney elements, like characters and park icons.

Look for them to be ready beginning March 3 and running through April 1.

  • Grand Floridian (Available March 3–April 1) – Easter display including eggs inspired by Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Beauty and the Beast, and Disney snacks
  • Contemporary Resort (Available March 3–April 1) – Easter display including eggs inspired from Elemental and Hercules
  • Beach Club (Available March 3–April 1) – Easter display including miniature versions of the topiaries you can see over at the International Flower and Garden Festival
  • Yacht Club (Available March 3–April 1) – Easter display inspired by Moana

Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny Meet and Greet

We don’t have the exact dates or meeting times for 2024 yet, but typically, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny are only available to meet the week before Easter. If that pattern holds true, look for them to make their first appearance March 24.

As for where you can find them, we expect that you once again will be able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny at the Liberty Square Gazebo, aka the “Bunny Lane Garden,” in Magic Kingdom.

A Disney PhotoPass photographer is also available to take photos.

Easter Pre-Parade

  • We don’t have information just yet about the 2024 Easter pre-parade, but here’s what we do know based on past years.

While not a full-fledged parade, Disney World is known for having an Easter-themed cavalcade of sorts that runs about 15 minutes before each showing of the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom.

You can usually see it closer to Easter, like a day before the actual holiday and then on Easter.

While it could change, in the past the pre-parade has featured Cast Members in Easter attire, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny, characters from Fantasia, and operatic chicken Clara Cluck.

The song “Easter Parade” and “Spring, Spring, Spring” also played.

A previous staple of the Easter Parade – the Azalea Trail Maids – have not been a part of the parade for several years now.

Is Easter Busy at Walt Disney World?

Easter is usually one of the busiest times of year to visit Disney World due to it being a holiday and many guests having time off work and school.

Here’s what we predict for Easter crowds in 2024:

  • March 11-22 – heavy Spring Break crowds
  • March 23-31 – heavy crowds due to Spring Break and Easter
March crowd calendar
  • April 1-7 – heavy crowds continue due to the Easter holiday
  • April 8-17 – moderate crowds return

Of course, it’s important to remember that you can’t compare this year’s crowds to previous years. When we predict that crowds will be “heavy,” we mean that on those dates, the crowds will be heavier when compared to the rest of the year.

If you’re worried about navigating Easter crowds, check out our Crowd Calendar for more tips. Be sure to also take a look at how Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours — and to see if you’re eligible to take advantage of either or both!

Easter Merchandise

Disney World always has merchandise on sale for most holidays and Easter is no different.

Look for items both in the parks and online on The Disney Store.

Build Your Own Easter Basket

At the resorts, you can sometimes have the option to build your own Easter basket or even purchase pre-made baskets.

Pricing will vary, but typically includes a small fee for the basket supplies plus the cost of whatever you want to put in the basket.

Some aren’t cheap and range in price. We’ve seen them priced at around $99, $103, $104, and $123. It just depends on what you purchase.

Easter Religious Services

Information on religious services has been more difficult to track down in recent years. In the past, there were services held on Easter Sunday at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the Fantasia Ballroom, usually at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for Catholic Mass and at 9:15 a.m. for Protestant Service.

If you’re interested in services, reach out to the front desk of your resort for more information. We recommend doing it in person and not over the phone, though, since calling directs you to a central switchboard not located at your resort.

Reservations and/or registration were never required to attend.

We’ve also seen resorts post signage with a list of local churches offering in-person services or live-stream offerings. The churches were St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and Mary Queen of the Universe Basilica.
