Mickey, the painter! Minnie, the poet! Daisy, the dancer! Donald, the sculptor! These might be some of the best character meal costumes at Walt Disney World.
At Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, you can see Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Donald channeling their inner artist during Breakfast à la Art with Mickey and Friends.
You can find the French Riviera-themed restaurant (with amazing rooftop views) at Disney’s Riviera Resort. While dinner is also served here, you can only meet characters during breakfast.
A prix-fixe menu is served at breakfast, meaning your meal starts with fresh pastries and bread, but then you’ll then choose from a list of several entrées, all for one set price.
On Saturday, July 29, 2023, we were lucky enough to snag a reservation at the ever-so-popular Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast. Here is our review!
The basics

How we got a Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast reservation
This is one of the most sought after character meals at Disney World. So, yes, booking a dining reservation here immediately is a must!
Reservations for all the restaurants at Disney World currently open up exactly 60 days in advance — and you should book dining as soon as you can.

Grabbing dining reservations at Disney World is extremely competitive. Somehow, we were able to book breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace reservation 17 days before our trip.
You never know when there will be availability, but the most surefire way to get any reservation is booking 60 days before your trip begins.
Other ways to score a Topolino’s Terrace breakfast dining reservation
Set dining alerts
If you don’t get a breakfast reservation at Topolino’s Terrace or want to try to book one last minute, try setting up a dining alert.
Reservation finding services are built to constantly check for openings at restaurants that you choose. Depending on the service, you can receive an email and/or text alert or a push notification when something becomes available.
Keep checking
You can also keep checking yourself to see if anything opens up. We’ve had a lot of luck with this method. Trust us when we say reservations become available all the time — even the day of!
Join the waitlist
Many Disney World restaurants also have a waitlist option that you can either join in the My Disney Experience app or in person.
If you don’t have luck snagging a reservation, this might be your next best bet. But, keep in mind, it’s not always a guarantee.
Checking in
Like with many Table Service restaurants across Disney World, you can check in for dining reservations 20 minutes prior using the My Disney Experience app.

If you check in via the app, you can only do so up to 20 minutes before your reservation time. For our breakfast reservation on July 29, 2023, we checked in at 7:50, and we didn’t have to wait very long at all (maybe 5-10 minutes).

Character Interactions
Topolino’s Terrace is a popular and unique character dining experience. Not only do you get to meet characters in some of the best-themed costumes, but you get to dine at a restaurant with breathtaking rooftop views.

Here’s who you get to meet:
Mickey
Mickey is dressed as a painter, complete with brushes in his smock:

Minnie
Minnie is a decked out as a poet, with shiny red accessories:

Daisy
Daisy is ready to show us all the best steps in her ballet dancer ensemble:

Donald
And Donald fits the “moody artist” mold perfectly in his sculptor attire:

Because this meal is NOT a buffet, we find the entire experience way more peaceful. The spacing between the characters is well-timed, and you definitely do not feel rushed. The food comes to you, the characters come to you…it is just a way different experience than a character buffet.
If you have little ones who can’t handle a buffet on their own, Topolino’s is a GREAT option. You can still have that wonderful character interaction, without the worry of trying to wrangle kids in a buffet line.

Our most recent review of Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast
To say we were hungry on the morning of our breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace would be an understatement. We were also quite excited and very much looking forward to a peaceful, non-buffet breakfast.
Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The My Disney Experience app check-in process was seamless and efficient, and before we knew it, we were seated.
Inside, Topolino’s Terrace strikes that tricky balance of being both stylish and kid-friendly. The space feels open and airy, with vast windows framing bird’s eye views of Walt Disney World.
But, the fact that this is NOT a buffet makes everything seem a lot more…relaxed. There is a chill vibe, even though there are characters roaming about.
For breakfast, we each ordered something different.
Heather ordered the Avocado Toast with Prosciutto, Poached Egg, Toy Box Tomatoes, Fennel, Harissa Vinaigrette, Ciabatta:

Felicia ordered the Wood-fired Steak and Eggs with Polenta, Pomodoraccio Tomatoes, Roasted Potatoes, Wild Mushroom Conserva:

And Allyson ordered the plant-based Wild Mushroom Scramble, with Spinach, Plant-based Eggs, Plant-based Sausage, Tomatoes:

We really enjoyed our breakfast here. Allyson was the least “wowed” by her plant-based breakfast (although she did like it!), but Felicia and Heather thought their breakfasts were delicious. And although the menu selection isn’t huge, it is nice to have options other than waffles. YES – we love Mickey Waffles, too. But sometimes, it is nice to eat something that will stick to your bones a bit more. Like steak. Yum!
Also, we had heard some rumblings before our breakfast of people saying the serving sizes were not big enough, but we found them to be more than adequate, especially considering we had the bucket of bread and pastries to start with.
Is Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast worth it?
Let’s get straight to the heart of the matter: breakfasts at Disney can be a hit or miss, especially when you factor in the always present budget concerns and the desire to make every experience magical for the whole family. So, how does Topolino’s Terrace stack up?
First, let’s take a look at the menu. Topolino’s offers a solid selection of breakfast choices that cater both to the discerning palate and the picky-eater. From classic American breakfast staples to subtle European-inspired dishes, to us, it felt like there was truly something for everyone.
But breakfast at Topolino’s isn’t just about the food; it’s also a character dining experience. The characters here were a lot of fun. They come around in their stylish artist-inspired outfits, giving it a fresh twist from the usual park interactions and we never felt rushed with them.
They took their time at each table, making even our table of adults feel special with individualized attention.

Let’s be honest, dining at Disney, especially character dining, isn’t easy on the wallet. Topolino’s Terrace is no exception. It’s on the pricier side for a breakfast, but when you consider the quality of the food, the character interactions, and the breathtaking views, it does offer decent value for money.
And if you’re looking to splurge on a memorable experience, this might be it – especially if you are staying anywhere along the Disney Skyliner (Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach Resort, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk) since you’ll have easy access to Disney’s Riviera and Topolino’s Terrace.
So what is our final verdict? Is breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace worth it?
If you’re seeking a unique character dining experience with quality food, and you are prepared for the price tag, absolutely. It’s a delightful blend of good food and Disney magic, in a lovely setting. However, budget-conscious families might want to weigh the overall experience against the cost to decide if it’s the right fit for their trip.
