Good uses for Park Hopper tickets

My favorite ways/reasons to use Park Hoppers are for people who:

  • Will be visiting parks during Extra Magic Hours
  • Are staying in an Epcot-area resort
  • Want to catch nighttime entertainment that’s not scheduled every night
  • Want to hop from a park closing early to a park that’s closing later
  • Have a short trip and need to combine 2 parks in 1 day

Ways to use Water Parks Fun and More tickets

  • Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon water parks (I recommend visiting the first few hours they’re open or the last few hours)
  • DisneyQuest
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports
  • Either of the 2 miniature golf courses (Fantasia Gardens which is located near The Swan, and Winter Summerland which is located near Blizzard Beach) as long as you’re playing before 4:00
  • Round of golf at Oak Trail golf course

Quick tip of the day

Briana called in with several tips about traveling with little ones, including her recommendation for using umbrella strollers and taking a carry-on bag to be prepared while you wait for Magical Express bags to be delivered to your resort room.

For more information, check out my stroller comparison and info about Magical Express so you can decide what’s best for your family.

Just wanted to say something about the quick tip. I totally agree with bringing a small stroller with you… But I found buying a light weight easy fold one was better than an umbrella. We used then jeep cloud and it was only about $50

    1. My son could recline to take a nap
    2. Its still easy enough to fold and we took it through security. I wore him in a carrier… And used the stroller as a luggage cart for our back packs.
    3. STORAGE and CUPHOLDERS!
Kind of selfish on our part… But while my son rode on the stroller… I had a place to put my bag underneath… Or our drinks.

Question, I just want to be sure I understand. If I have 8 day park hopper/waterpark and more tickets, can I go to DisneyQuest on the 9th day as long as I still haven’t used all 8 waterpark and more admissions. All 8 park tickets will have been used. I’m thinking this is a good activity on our last day before heading to airport around 2:00.
Love the podcast, makes my commute time much more enjoyable.

    • Shannon Albert May 8, 2015

You can use your Water Parks Fun and More tickets anytime within 14 days from the day you first use one of your tickets. Your plan should work fine.

Hi! I have been enjoying the podcast so much. We are planning a trip in August and it been so helpful and also keeps the excitment alive while we wait.

I would add that Park Hopping is also great for families with young kids (babies/toddlers/preschoolers) for a few reasons. 1. You may be returning to your hotel anyways in the middle of the day, so why not change parks? 2. There isn’t enough to do in some of the parks for that age group to fill a whole day (Epcot, Hollywood Studios). 3. Animal Kingdom closes early. 4. You don’t know what day you’re going to get the FastPass for Anna/Elsa and you may need to head briefly to the Magic Kingdom 🙂 5. If you stay in the Magic Kingdom resort area, you may want to head there every day… Who knows 🙂 BTW, Love your site!

      Agreed!

    hi Shannon
    Love your pod casts
This will be the first year we are doing the water parks and more package. Do you have any suggestions on Disney Quest? I have 11 and 8 yr old boys.
    Much Thanks!!!

    • Steve May 3, 2015

We went to quest on the day we arrived. Our plane got in at 10:30 so we weren’t going to be going yo a park but didn’t want to sit around the pool all day so downtown was a perfect option. Worked out well using one of our and more admissions. Would have been better if we’d had later dinner but t rex was booked and we really wanted to do that. In the end it was blah but quest was fun

Do you recommended park hopping from Epcot to Magic Kingdom for a few hours to have a early TS dinner and do a few rides? I’m plan on doing that before Mickey’s Christmas party since i won’t have a ticket for that night.

  7. Rebecca Brockway May 3, 2015 Reply

I have a couple of questions. How much ahead of time can i find out which parks are offering EMHs? (So i can avoid them). And what nighttime shows are/are not offered certain nights? We would be staying late April/early May 2017 and I am trying to assess if I need park hopper.

    • Shannon Albert May 3, 2015

Park hours come out about 6.5 months ahead of time and I post them on the monthly dashboards.

I just got back from a five night stay at Coronado Springs and had the best time! Even though I went during the busy season I barely waited in any lines and was able to do everything I wanted!
