Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure have plenty of extra activities for guests. Some are free or included in tickets, resorts, or vacation packages, whereas others cost an additional price.

From guided tours, to having your kids receive a royal makeover, to special celebrations, guests can enhance their visit to the happiest place on earth in a variety of ways.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disneyland Park

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is an experience perfect for little kids (ages 3 to 12) who want to transform into knights and their favorite Disney princess. There are different packages that range in price.

Some options include the full package with a princess gown and photos, whereas others are simpler and only include hair, makeup, and nails. It just depends on the amount you want to spend.

Disneyland Resort VIP Tours

Disneyland VIP Tour

Disneyland Resort VIP Tours offers guests the chance to explore Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure with their own private tour guide complete with private access to over 30 attractions and shows.

The tour is a minimum of 7 hours and guides will help you plan your entire day.

Pricing starts at $2,975 for you and up to 9 other guests and does not include theme park admission. Reservations are required and can be made via email or by calling (714) 300-7710.

Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour

Happiest Haunts Tour at Disneyland

This two and a half hour long historical walking tour is seasonal (it is only available around Halloween) and covers both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.

It explores all things Halloween including legends from different films, park poltergeists, pranksters, and more. Guests also receive a seasonal treat and a collectible pin.

The tour costs $99 per person (3 years and older; tax not included), in addition to theme park admission.

Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Disney Visa Cardmembers receive a 15% discount. You can book the tour up to 30 days in advance by calling (714) 781-8687.

“Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort” Guided Tour

This two and a half hour guided walking tour takes place daily during the holidays at Disneyland Resort.

On this seasonal tour, guests learn about worldwide holiday traditions and enjoy holiday sections at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.

As an added bonus, the tour ends with reserved seating for A Christmas Fantasy Parade and participants also receive holiday treats, a collectible pin, and more.

Every year, parts of the tour are refreshed, so there’s always something new offered. It costs $99 per person (ages 3 and older; tax not included), in addition to theme park admission.

Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Disney Visa Cardmembers receive a 15% discount. You can book the tour up to 30 days in advance by calling (714) 781-8687.

“Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps” Guided Tour

This is the tour to take if you want to learn more about Walt Disney and the creation of Disneyland Park.

You’ll hear stories about his personal life and park history, in addition to visiting parts of the park unavailable to most guests, including Walt’s apartment housed above the firehouse on Main Street.

The tour is about three hours long and also comes with either lunch or dinner (depending on the time of day) at Jolly Holiday Bakery on Main Street. Guests will also receive a collectible pin.

The tour costs $115 per person, along with separate theme park admission. You can make reservations up to 30 days prior by calling (714) 781-8687. Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Disney Visa Cardmembers receive a 15% discount.

The Grand Circle Tour

*The Grand Circle tour is currently unavailable, but is scheduled to return in early 2020.

It’s no secret that Walt Disney loved trains, so, of course, there’s a tour that gives a behind-the-scenes look into his passion.

The two-hour tour begins with a beverage and specially-themed donut and then you’ll walk through Disneyland Park learning stories and facts.

Participants will even get to ride in the special parlor car named the Lilly Belle on the Disneyland Railroad that guests don’t typically get to ride. Guests will also receive collectible souvenirs, including a copy of the Disneyland Railroad map and a credential.

The tour costs $85 per person (ages 3 and up; tax not included), in addition to separate theme park admission. There is a 15% discount for Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Members. To book, call (714) 781-8687. 

Special Celebrations

Birthdays at the Disneyland Resort

Disneyland birthday celebrations

There are all kinds of ways to celebrate birthdays at the happiest place on earth, including ordering a celebration cake for delivery to select table-service restaurants at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, or a Disneyland Resort Hotel.

Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes costs $45 (plus tax and gratuity) and can be added to any dining reservation in person at the restaurant or hotel’s concierge desk or by calling (714) 781-3463.

Allergy-friendly and custom-designed cakes (starting at $250, plus) are also available at select Disney dining locations. Calling in advance is highly recommended. There are also several in-room celebrations available for purchase.

Quinceañera

Did you know you could have a Quinceañera celebration at Disneyland?!

From decorations, to floral arrangements, to white-glove service, to entertainment, to the addition of a Disney Character, expert planners will help you throw the event.

Weddings

Getting married at Disneyland is possible and if you’re interested you’ll find that there are a range of options for couples.

As you may imagine, a Disney wedding certainly isn’t cheap, but it’s definitely a magical way to get married.

Downtown Disney District

The VOID: Step Beyond Reality

The VOID at Downtown Disney in Disneyland

The VOID in Downtown Disney is a 3D virtual reality experience offering guests the chance to go on themed-adventures.

Currently, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Avengers: Damage Control (only available for a limited time) are offered.

There is a height requirement (48 inches), and participants must be at least 10 years old. And, all participants will have to sign a liability waiver.

Tickets can be purchased here. Star Wars costs $34.95 per person and Avengers costs $39.95 per person.

PhotoPass

Disneyland Birthdays

Much like Disney World’s version, Disney PhotoPass is also an option available to Disneyland guests.

There are different PhotoPass photographers throughout the parks that take your photos at select locations, i.e. in front of attractions, in popular areas of the park, with characters, during character dining, and more. PhotoPass locations can be found on park maps.

You can purchase downloads of your PhotoPass photos or get “free” downloads with the additional purchase of Disney MaxPass or Disney PhotoPass+ One Week.

There’s also the option of purchasing prints without a Disney account and by using a Disney PhotoPass ID Card.

PhotoPass is also included in Disney Signature Plus, Disney Signature, and Disney Premier Annual Passholders passports.

Rise & Stretch in the Park

Disneyland fitness extras

In addition to hotel fitness facilities, there is a fun and unique fitness option offered for registered guests at either the Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel, or Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

“Rise and Stretch in the Park” is a 45-minute stretch class held inside Disney California Adventure before the park opens and is led by a fitness instructor.

Reservations are required and you can book them by contacting Hotel Guest Services.

New “EARidescent” decor coming for the 18-mont New “EARidescent” decor coming for the 18-month long 50th celebration that officially begins on October 1.

Colorful outfits for Mickey and Minnie (do you like them better than the previous confetti version?), embellishments on Cinderella Castle, plus projections on the other park icons have been announced so far.

Was hoping for more, but I suspect they’ll be dripping the info out as they learn more about how things are going safety-wise.

What are your thoughts? Will you be making a trip for the 50th? We will!
