Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a Moderate Resort that celebrates a combination of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures. You can find the resort in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area.

Overview

Coronado Springs is described has a “newly re-imagined” resort, which is in part to the Gran Destino Tower that opened in July 2019. The tower has 545 guest rooms (including 50 suites and club-level service), a two-story lobby, meeting venus, lounges, a rooftop restaurant with stunning views, and more. 

In addition staying in the Gran Destino Tower, there are also standard rooms and suites outside of the tower for guests to book. In total, the resort has 2,385 rooms.

Coronado Springs is actually quite a big resort with a variety of dining choice, recreation options, and other amenities. Here’s what else you need to know.

Rooms And Bathrooms

There are plenty of rooms to choose from at Coronado Springs that can sleep up to 8 people, depending on the type of room booked.

Each rooms offers your standard amenities, like a hairdryer, TV, free WiFi, a coffee maker, telephone, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, and a mini-refrigerator. Plus, there’s a range of views, including of the courtyard, landscaping, parking area, lake, pool, or garden.

There’s even a selection of rooms that feature Club Level Service, which we go over in more detail below.

And, don’t worry, there are plenty of outlets and USB ports for charging all of your devices. Better yet, there’s plenty of storage for your belongings, including space under the bed, drawers, and closet space. 

The bathrooms have storage underneath the sink and vanity area, as well, which is also separate from the shower and toilet area.

Checking In And Out

When it comes to checking in and out, you have a few options: at the front desk, online through the official Walt Disney World website, or via the My Disney Experience app.

The front desk is located in the 2-story lobby of the Gran Destino Tower. Even though the front desk is there to assist guests, especially with checking in and checking out, all Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to check-in online or by using MDE.

  • Checking-In: After you check-in online or using the app, you’ll receive a room-ready notification via next. You can then use your MagicBand or MDE’s digital key feature to unlock your room door.
  • Checking-Out: Currently, guests will automatically be checked out of their rooms. But, if you have unresolved charges to your hotel folio, you’ll need to visit the front desk.

Note: Guests also have the option of to chat virtually with resort Cast Members via MDE for any assistance. 

The Gran Destino Tower is a gorgeous lobby and we encourage you to take a look around and also snap some photos. The main lobby is where guests will check in and the lower lobby level features the Barcelona Lounge, meeting rooms, and a connection to El Centro (the former lobby) and the Convention Center.

Magical Express pickup and the bus stop are also right outside the main lobby, along with Resort Airline Check-In and luggage storage for those who have checked out or are waiting to check in. (Be sure to check with the resort to see if airline check-in and luggage storage services are available.)

Parking

Parking is available at Coronado Springs. There is a standard $20 overnight self-parking fee (including tax) that is applied to guests’ hotel folio upon check-out. (If you made resort reservations before June 18, 2020 for an arrival in 2020, the parking fee is only $19 per night.)

Valet parking is also available for $33 per night.

Complimentary standard self-parking is available for non-resort guests exploring dining, shopping, entertainment, and other experiences during the day.

    From gift shops, to on-site laundry services, to spa and fitness, there are several amenities offered to guests at Coronado Springs.

    Panchitos at Coronado Springs Resort

    • Panchito’s Gifts & Sundries: Find Disney souvenirs, native crafts, and more. 
    • Laundry Services: There are 24-hour self-service laundry facilities adjacent to each of the 3 quiet village pools.
    • Dry Cleaning Services: Dry cleaning and valet laundry services are also an option.
    • Movies Under the Stars: Watch complimentary Disney movies near the Lost City of Cibola pool.
    • Spa & Fitness: Guests can enjoy either the La Vida Health Club. a full-service facility with workout equipment, spa services and more, the Fitness Center at Gran Destino.
    • Childcare Services: In-room babysitting for children 6 months to 12 years old.

    Pools And Recreation

    Coronado Springs has one feature pool and three leisure pools. If you need a non-park day, we recommended spending the day at your hotel and enjoying a Disney Resort pool.

    • The Lost City of Cibola Pool: Located in the Dig Site complex, this pool has a Mayan ruins theme and features a 50-foot pyramid and a 123-foot waterslide. The largest hot tub on WDW property can also be found here (22 people can fit in it!). There are also seasonal poolside activities, Siesta’s pool bar, a sand volleyball court, and a kiddie pool. 

    Leisure Pools

    • There are three leisure pools located at each settlement: the Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. 

    Some other recreational options include:

    • Iguana Arcade
    • Playground (near the Dig Site complex)
    • Volleyball
    • Jogging Trails
    • Campfire to roast marshmallows
    • Fitness Classes

    These recreational activities are an additional cost:

    • The Running of Coronado Fun Run: Takes place most Sundays and costs $15 per person, plus tax. All you have to do is complete the 1.7-mile course to receive a finisher’s collector pin and a Magdalena. You can register in person starting at 6:45 a.m. the day of (race starts at 7 a.m.) in the Gran Destino Plaza or call in advance at (407) 939-7529.
    • Colors of Coronado Painting Experience: This is an instructed class, where you can paint while enjoying a complimentary drink and snack. Held every Monday in the Dahlia Lounge and costs $50 per person, plus tax. You can register in person the day of at 1:45 p.m. and class starts at 2 p.m. You can even call (407) 939-7529 to make advanced reservations.

    How to get from Coronado Springs Resort to anywhere at Disney World

    The only form of complimentary Disney transportation available at Coronado Springs are buses, which will transport guests to all theme parks, the Disney Springs area, and Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course. You can find the main bus stop in front of the El Centro building. There also additional stops to shuttle guests between the Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas suites. For original vintage pieces, search “Lefton Christmas ceramics” or “Napco Christmas ceramics.” These often run you $100+ and can usually be found on Etsy, eBay, and other resale stores.

For less expensive replicas, check out VermontCountryStore.com which has a small - but more affordable - collection, including the trio of candy cane girls.

They haven’t been appearing as reliably as Alice, Mary Poppins, Joy, and Winnie the Pooh, but be sure to be on the lookout when passing the Royal Sommerhus in Norway where they might just show up.
