Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Resort (closing September 2023)

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Resort (closing September 2023)

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a Star Wars fans’ dream come true. This is essentially a hotel, but also more of an out-of-this-world experience.

Think of the Galactic Starcruiser as similar to hopping aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, but instead being transported into a galaxy far, far away and living your best Star Wars life.

Important Update – Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is closing

disney world website update about star wars: galactic starcruiser closure

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: A unique experience providing an unforgettable and all-immersive Star Wars-themed voyage. This is totally unlike any other resort experience on property.
  • Cons: Very pricey for a two-night stay.

Resort category: Deluxe

Resort area: Hollywood Studios

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal
201 South Studio Drive
Bay Lake, Florida 32830

You’ll be able to find the Galactic Starcruiser near Disney’s Hollywood Studios and just outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

As previously stated, this isn’t your typical hotel, but a two-day, two-night all-immersive experience. How it works is guests stay onboard a starcruiser, a ship named the Halcyon.

Halcyon on Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

Upon arrival, guests will be ushered into a launch pod, where a simulated experience of blasting off into space begins. If you look up, you should be able to see the Halcyon.

Once the capsule lands, doors open into The Atrium of the starcruiser.

From special activities, like being able to wield an actual light saber (for guests ages 7 and over), to touring the bridge of the ship, to exploring where the navigation and defense systems are located, the Galactic Starcruiser is definitely a one-of-a-kind resort stay.

Since this is similar to a cruise experience, there are certain items that are included, along with an itinerary for guests to follow.

What’s included:

  • A 2-night stay in a cabin or suite
  • Valet parking
  • Meals (excluding alcoholic and speciality beverages)
  • Entry to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, along with the rest of Hollywood Studios
  • While at Galaxy’s Edge, one Quick Service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or other select locations at the park (meal includes one entree, one non-alcoholic beverage, or, if 21 or over, one alcoholic beverage where available, or for guests ages 3 to 9, one combo meal from the children’s menu to be used in the theme park only)
  • Exclusive Galactic Starcruiser MagicBand
  • Opportunity to live your Star Wars story through exclusive experiences, missions, and activities
  • One-time entry to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run during Galaxy’s Edge excursion

There’s also few things that are not included, meaning you have to pay extra.

Here is a sample itinerary (click to view larger and zoom in):

Important: Only registered Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests are permitted to visit the Terminal or board the starcruiser.

Here’s what else we know about the hotel set to open March 1, 2022.

Check out our post on the 12 things you need to know about Galactic Starcruiser.

You’ll definitely pay a hefty price for this experience, which is certainly unique and unlike any other hotel stay at Walt Disney World.

Here is a sample of the standard cabin rates for voyage departure dates most weeknights from Aug. 21, 2023 to Sept. 14, 2023.

  • 2 guests per cabin: $1,209 per guest per night, or $4,809 voyage total
  • 3 guests per cabin (2 adults, 1 child): $899 per guest per night, or $5,299 voyage total
  • 4 guests per cabin (3 adults, 1 child): $749 per guest per night, or $5,999 voyage total

Keep in mind that the cost of your voyage varies based on several factors: your party size, voyage dates, and the cabin or suite you book.

General bookings for the Galactic Starcruiser are now open.

Passenger Cabins & Suites

The Galactic Starcruiser rooms are perfectly themed and make you feel like you’re on a ship — just like in the movies.

There’s a total of 100 cabins and suites. You can book a standard cabin or choose between two suites. Depending on which room you book, you can sleep up to 8 guests.

Each room includes the standard amenities, including mini refrigerator, hair dryer, in-cabin safe, phone with voicemail, interactive TV, H20 Plus spa, bath, and shower products.

However, you must request use of an iron and an ironing board.

There is also storage for your belongings, including shelving and closet space. Of course, there are also outlets to charge your datapads (aka mobile devices).

Cabins even have one or two windows with “views out into space.” Some of the views even feature “a few extra Star Wars surprises.”

There’s also a shield to shut down the window, if you want a dark room when sleeping.

Let’s take a look at each room.

Checking In and Out

You can (and it’s also recommended) check-in online or via the My Disney Experience app for Galactic Starcruiser, just like you do for other Disney World Resort hotels.

Upon arrival, you’ll finalize check-in outside the terminal, where Cast Members (aka “Crew Members”) give you a complimentary exclusive Galactic Starcruiser MagicBand that acts as your room key and is used at other various experiences while aboard the ship. They also take your luggage and will deliver it to your room for you.

Be sure to keep any items on you that you may need immediately, since your luggage is whisked away.

Once you go through security and watch a safety video (explains a “show” emergency versus a “real” emergency), you’re guided onto a launch pod that will transport you via simulation (no, you don’t actually blast off into space) to the Halcyon, the “ship” you stay on during the entire experience.

galactic starcruiser check in

When the capsule lands, doors open into The Atrium, the lobby, of the starcruiser.

FYI: Valet parking is included in the price of your voyage. Your car will be parked prior to boarding the ship.

Guests are asked to arrive to the terminal after 1 p.m. and before 4 p.m. You will not be allowed to board before 1 p.m. Previously, if you arrived earlier than 1 p.m., Disney would hold registered guests’ luggage and send them to Disney Springs until it was time to board. There was even a bus stop at Disney Springs for these guests to use. However, bus service from Disney Springs has since been discontinued.

Important: Only registered Galactic Starcruiser guests are permitted to visit the terminal or board the starcruiser.

On departure day, you will be served breakfast before leaving the ship via the launch pod.

Read more about what you need to do prior to your arrival.

Valet parking is included in the price of your voyage. Your car will be parked prior to boarding the ship and launching into your 2-day adventure.

Pools And Recreation

There isn’t a pool available, but there are plenty of recreational-type options available. These aren’t your standard offerings, but Star Wars-themed and quite unique to the overall experience.

Here are the on-board activities available.

Lightsaber Training

galactic starcruiser ligthsaber training

You’ll be able to experience the art of wielding a lightsaber and be able to put your skills to the test against a training remote.

Important: Guests must be at least 7 years of age to participate.

The Engineering Room

galactic starcruiser engineering room

This “crew-only area” allows guests to explore the inner workings of the ship’s systems.

Bridge Training

galactic starcruiser the bridge

This is a hands-on experience, where you’ll explore the inner-workings of the bridge and learn how it functions from the crew.

You’ll learn about the navigation, power, defense, and other critical systems that are used to keep the Halcyon safe.

Character Interaction

galactic starcruiser - rey

You’ll be able to meet a mix of new and familiar characters, including Kylo Ren, Rey, and possibly even Chewbacca.

Guests will encounter characters all over and at different points during their experience.

For example, there could be a character guests help stowaway, encounter in a hidden part of the ship, or help break out of a brig.

galactic starcruiser - chewbacca

This also means guests can choose who they want to be loyal to and who they want to interact with. Or, guests can simply sit and watch and take it all in.

There’s something for everyone, including those who like the older movies, those who prefer the TV shows, those who are graphic novel fans, and more.

Galaxy’s Edge Excursion

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

This isn’t technically on-board, but you will disembark the ship at one point (on Day 2) during your voyage to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

You’ll take an exclusive transport to the planet of Batuu and emerge straight out into the land giving guests the chance to experience Galaxy’s Edge in “new ways deepening the story of their entire adventure.”

The transport is operated by Black Spire Outpost, which will then “fly up” to the Halcyon, gather guests, and take them to the outpost on Batuu.

You even get a one-time entry (via the Lightning Lane) to both Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon-Smugglers Run!

Guests on the Halcyon will also learn more about the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run backstory, including who the coaxium buyer is and will even deliver the coaxium later on.

Outside dining at Docking Bay 7

During your trip to Galaxy’s Edge, each guest receives one Quick Service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or other select locations at Hollywood Studios (if you prefer).

The meal at the park includes: one entree, one non-alcoholic beverage, or, if 21 or over, one alcoholic beverage (where available), or for guests ages 3 to 9, one combo meal from the children’s menu to be used in the theme park only).

This really is an all-immersive experience, but it’s up to the you how involved you want to be. You can choose to be casual or dive as deeply as you want.

Also know that Galaxy’s Edge, Galactic Starcruiser, and other Star Wars storytelling all intersect.

Costumes & Gala

galactic starcruiser souvenir apparel and accessories

If you want to dress up in full costume to truly immerse yourself in the experience, you can!

There will even be Star Wars galaxy apparel available on the ship, you know, if you happen to leave yours at home (or don’t own any).

Also, there will be a “traditional end-of-cruise gala celebration,” that you might want to dress up for as well!

Gift Shop

chandrila collection gift shop galactic starcruiser

The Chandrila Collection is a boutique located just off the Atrium. You’ll find a range of items to purchase, like tunics, robes, dresses, flight uniforms, accessories, and other souvenirs.

Plus, there’s a pop-up shop outside the terminal when you leave with items that have the Galactic Starcruiser logo.

After your departure, you’ll also receive a one-time link that you can use to purchase soft goods with the logo

Play Disney Parks App

play disney parks app - star wars

You will also have access to special features via the Play Disney Parks app, where you can check your personalized itinerary of events and activities, as well as communications from the crew and others you may encounter along the way.

As you make choices throughout your voyage, you’ll receive new communications. You might even be invited to secret meetings and adventures.

Don’t have a smart device? No problem! Guests may receive ship-issued “datapads,” aka smart devices to use (be sure to have your Play Disney Parks log-in information ready).

Restaurant & Dining Options

There are several dining options available on board.

Meals (except for alcoholic and specialty beverages) are all included in your voyage vacation package.

Guest can also help themselves to unlimited green and blue milk during breakfast and lunch, along with the following.
