When it comes to our reviews and ratings, we thought it would be helpful if you had a better understanding of our personal preferences (what we like and don’t like), along with if there are any dietary restrictions.

Here’s a breakdown of not only who is doing the reviews, but a little more information about what each of us likes and doesn’t like food and drink-wise.

Shannon (Founder)

  • Likes: Almost everything
  • Dislikes: Beers that taste “stinky,” anything too salty
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Heather (Editor)

  • Likes: Strong flavors, anything made out of potatoes, white wines, all beers (especially stouts and wheat beers), doesn’t mind sweet (plain fruit is NOT a dessert. Ever.)
  • Dislikes: Things that are too spicy, anything with a bone still in it, cocktails with too much whiskey or tequila (thanks to having too much fun in college), some red wines, most IPAs
  • Dietary Restrictions: Shellfish allergy

Felicia (Content Manager)

  • Likes: Mezcal, savory drinks, stouts/lagers/wheats/sour beers, vinegar, tart/sour items, chocolate, fresh vegetables and fruits, red meat
  • Dislikes: Ciders, sweet drinks, anything milky or creamy, chili powder, cumin, weirded out by textures, mayonnaise, saucy/wet food, cream-filled pastries, artificial fruit flavors, cooked fruits, frozen items (drinks or ice cream)
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Sope de Chilorio 2024
  • Price: $8.50

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Hard to cut but otherwise fantastic. Great presentation, portion, and delicious flavors.
Heather: Damn Mexico is coming in strong. This is good, too! Fun flavor and the combo of textures is interesting!!!! But it doesn’t feel like a festival item. That’s my only complaint!
Felicia: This is good. The fried corn shell and solid and holds the ingredients well and the flavors are delicious. Good mix of ingredients.

Tamale de Rajas

Poblano peppers, corn, and cheese in masa topped with poblano cream sauce, crema mexicana, pickled carrots and onions with chives.

Tamale de Rajas 2024
  • Price: $8.75
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 4.7/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Don’t even normally like tamales but this is delicious. Good portion and love the creamy sauce.
Heather: Me before my first bite “I don’t like the texture of tamales.” Me after my first bite: GET YOUR GRIMY HANDS OFF MY LATEST OBSESSION! This is delicious. And hearty. Loved it!
Felicia: Everything about this is delicious. It’s cheesy, a bit tangy from the salsa verde, and the corn on the tamale is perfect. Big portion, too.

Flan de Guayaba

Vanilla flan with guava coulis, whipped cream, and fresh fruit.

Flan de Guayaba 2024
  • Price: $6.50
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 3.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Great portion but super sweet and strange texture.
Heather: Just okay. You have my permission to skip it and drink your dessert instead.
Felicia: I’m not a flan person because of the texture but this one is pretty firm and has great flavor. Not too sweet or fruity. Worth a try.

Lychee Margarita

Centinela Blanco Tequila, lychee liqueur, citrus juice, and agave nectar.

Lychee Margarita 2024
  • Price: $14.50
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 1.7/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Tastes like rubbing alcohol. Do not bother. Ugh.
Heather: Not too bad – kind of sweet; but also a small portion and big price.
Felicia: What did I just drink? Yuck. It doesn’t taste like the description. It tastes like green olives.

Floral Margarita

Cherry liqueur, mezcal, hibiscus tea, and lime juice.

Floral Margarita 2024
  • Price: $14.00
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 3.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Cute souvenir cup but the drink tastes like bandaids. No thanks.
Heather: This is my kind of margarita! Fun flavor with a strong mezcal note. The bad thing?! The price. Get more bang for your buck at the other spots in Mexico where you can grab a margarita.
Felicia: Strong mezcal flavor and a nice cherry flavor. Adorable cup. Probably not a good value but I like it.

Craft Mexican Lager

Craft Mexican Lager. This was a Vienna style lager by Cerveceria Cielito Lindo when we were at the festival, but this may change.

Craft Mexican Lager 2024
  • Price: $6.00 (6 oz.) / $11.00 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 3.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Brandless beer is very skunky and not good.
Heather: Very generic – would be great if you just want a beer to sip, but at a festival I prefer things that are kind of unique.
Felicia: Delicious lager that is easy to drink. Love it for a hot day.
