The Hanami outdoor kitchen can be found in the Japan pavilion.
It offers a range of Japanese-inspired dishes and cocktails. Yes, this includes sake. This year, there’s even a Ozeki Pineapple Nigori Sake.
Every year, one of the most popular items at this booth is the “Frushi,” which is strawberry, pineapple, and lychee wrapped in sweet rice and pink soy wrap served with whipped cream, drizzled raspberry sauce, and toasted coconut.
Two new food items – a Ramen Cup and Steamed Bun – join the Frushi for 2024. All of the beverages are also new for this year.

Frushi
Frushi is strawberry, pineapple, and lychee wrapped in sweet coconut rice and pink soy wrap served with whipped cream, drizzled raspberry sauce, and toasted coconut
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Looks cuter than it tastes. Sweet fruit and whipped cream made up to look like sushi is a cute concept but not the best food option.
Heather: Over hyped. I don’t like it.
Felicia: This just fine. Tastes like fresh fruit and whipped cream. It’s not as good as people have pretended it is, but it’s pretty good. It’s also cute.
Steamed Bun
A steamed bun filled with vegetables and plant-based soy meat.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Man, I never like the ratio of filling to bun. Way too much chewy bun for me. Filling very bland as well.
Heather: The filling is fantastic-but because it is served in a paper pouch, it is very difficult to eat (the bun sticks to the paper).
Felicia: This tastes okay but the filling is mushy which I didn’t expect. It’s also served wrapped in paper and the bun just sticks to the paper making it super difficult to eat. I’d skip it.
Ramen Cup
A ramen salad shaken in a cup with fresh vegetables, grilled chicken, and dashi broth with chili oil and yuzu.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Surprised how much I liked this. Interesting concept to have everything in a cup that you can shake up. Enjoyed the light flavors. Has a little kick to it.
Heather: Such excellent flavors! I love this and the fact that it is cold is a huge bonus.
Felicia: I didn’t expect to like this but I do. It’s a cold noodle salad but the flavors are great. A little bit of spice but not too much. Perfect for the heat. The yuzu flavor really comes through.
Watermelon-Strawberry Lemonade
A tart and refreshing watermelon flavored lemonade.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Yummmm. The light watermelon flavors are so fresh.
Heather: Delicious lemonade – incredibly refreshing and the combo of strawberries and watermelon really works.
Felicia: So tart and fresh and overall refreshing. Love the strawberry flavor. There are a lot of seeds though but that doesn’t bother me.
Cherry Blossom Green Tea Pilsner
A crisp and refreshing pilsner brewed with cherry blossoms and green tea by Orange Blossom Brewing in Orlando, FL.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: This fruity Pilsner is fantastic. Perfect for this festival.
Heather: Definitely notes of orange without being sweet or overpowering. Would get a large sized version!
Felicia: I love this beer. Tastes the perfect amount like cherry blossom. It’s not too sweet though and it’s such a fun and unique flavor. Highly recommend.
Ichigo Breeze Cocktail
A sake based cocktail made with flavors of strawberry and watermelon.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: Love the combo of the fresh watermelon and sake. Small portion.
Heather: Very refreshing! I enjoy it because it isn’t sickeningly sweet or too heavy on the alcohol! Watermelon and strawberry are a winning team.
Felicia: This could be served colder, but it’s otherwise delicious. The sake blends perfectly with the strawberry lemonade. So refreshing. Can recommend both versions. There are seeds though if that sort of thing bothers you.
Ozeki Pineapple Nigori Sake
A slightly creamy and fruity dessert sake made using pineapple in Hollister, CA.
Our Thoughts
Shannon: If you’ve never had sake you liked, try this. Very smooth and love the pineapple flavor.
Heather: I’m giving this a 3 because it is my most favorite sake I’ve had at a festival to date. Unfortunately, it is very expensive. Womp Womp
Felicia: This is served room temperature which is kind of odd. Strong pineapple flavor and the sake funk isn’t too strong. I dislike it less than most of the sakes, but definitely need to love pineapple if you’re going to order it.
