We have a closing date for Splash Mountain at Disneyland — for real this time.
Splash Mountain will be closed beginning May 31, 2023, meaning the last day to ride is May 30, 2023, Disney confirmed on April 12.
On March 26, there were reports that Splash Mountain was closing at Disneyland on May 7, 2023. However, at the time of this rumor, Disney had not yet confirmed a closing date for Disneyland’s Splash Mountain.
If you haven’t heard yet, the purpose of the ride closing is to make way for the Princess and the Frog re-theme — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — at both Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom. The reimagined water ride is set to open sometime in 2024 on both coasts.

Alongside the closing date officially being announced, Disney also shared new details, including concept art of Mama Odie for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
“The enchantment of the bayou will illuminate with a celebration during Mardi Gras season hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen,” Disney details.
Yes, even Mama Odie will reprise her role as the catalyst to that magic!
As you can see above, “Mama Odie jokes with guests along their journey after a special display of her magic.” Actress Jenifer Lewis, who starred as the voice of Mama Odie in the original film, is returning to her role for the attraction.
Plus, you can expect the following:
- A brand-new cast of original Disney characters with distinct names and personalities
- Dozens of entirely new Audio-Animatronics figures
- Adorable critters with talent, bringing the diverse flavors of musical gumbo found in New Orleans
- New, original music alongside favorite tunes from the film
- The scent of beignets being prepared for the party will be part of the attraction queue
- Additional talent voices from the film reprising their roles, including Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Michael Leon Wooley as Louis, and Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana
- Familiar faces from the film such as Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, Louis, Eudora, Charlotte, “Big Daddy,” the King and Queen of Maldonia and Prince Ralphie
