Why we prefer Polynesian Villa Studios over the Standard Rooms

Why we prefer Polynesian Villa Studios over the Standard Rooms

There’s a lot to like about Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but 1 of our favorite hidden gems is the Studios located in the Villas section of the resort.

For the same price, you get these additional perks when staying in a Villa Studio instead of a Standard Room.

Larger size

While the standard rooms at the Polynesian Resort clock in at a generous 415 sq. ft., the Villa Studio rooms have 447 sq. ft. which makes it much easier, especially if you have 5 people sharing the space.

Flexible space

While both types of rooms have 2 queen beds and a single bed, one of the queen beds in the Villa Studio is a pull-down Murphy bed, giving you more flexibility to use it however you’d like.

You can leave it down as a bed, fold it up to use as a sofa, or alternate between the 2 throughout your stay.

More bathroom space

While the Standard Rooms have 1 nice sized full bathroom, the Studios have 1 full bathroom AND another bathroom with a sink and shower.

This allows everybody more space to get ready. Some families even use the second bathroom space for a Pack ‘n’ Play so they can have some separation while a little one sleeps.

All rooms have a patio or balcony

When you stay in a Standard Room at the Polynesian, you might end up with a patio or balcony, but you’re guaranteed to get that when staying in a Villa Studio.

Kitchenette

Studios have kitchenettes which gives you a microwave, toaster, and little sink in your room. Standard rooms don’t have that.

Proximity to the TTC

The Villas section of the Polynesian Resort is located on the end closest to the Transportation and Ticket Center which allows you to easily walk to the TTC and hop right on the monorail to Epcot (it takes multiple monorail stops if you board at the Polynesian monorail station) and take the ferry or Express Monorail over to Magic Kingdom.

This can be a huge time savings since you can go directly to Epcot or Magic Kingdom without any stops along the way.

What’s the catch?

You might think – ok, it sounds good, so why wouldn’t everybody do this?

The 2 biggest downsides to staying in a Villa Studio instead of a Standard Room are:

  • Proximity to the main building
  • Inability to stay Club Level
