The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is Star Wars fans’ dream come true. This is essentially a hotel, but also more of an out-of-this-world experience.
Think of the Galactic Starcruiser as similar to hopping aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, but instead being transported into a galaxy far, far away and living your best Star Wars life.
You’ll be able to find the Galactic Starcruiser near Disney’s Hollywood Studios and just outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
As previously stated, this isn’t your typical hotel, but a two-night all-immersive experience. How it works is guests stay onboard a starcruiser, a ship named the Halcyon.
Upon arrival, guests will be ushered into a launch pod, where a simulated experience of blasting off into space begins. If you look up, you should be able to see the Halcyon.
Once the capsule lands, doors open into The Atrium of the starcruiser. From special activities, like being able to wield an actual light saber, to touring the bridge of the ship, to exploring where the navigation and defense systems are located, the Galactic Starcruiser sounds like a one-of-a-kind resort stay.
Here’s what we know so far.
Passenger Cabin (aka Rooms)
Guests will stay in capsules, which have a window into space with a view of ships and other galactic sights. They’ll be able to fit up to five people.
Here’s a preview of some of the rooms.
When you arrive at the terminal, you’ll enter a Launch Pod that “blasts off” into space and will dock with the Halcyon.
This will be your home during your stay, where you’ll find your room, dining, amenities, activities, and more.
Described as “the heart” of the Halcyon and a “welcoming place where crew and passengers gather.”
Wield a Lightsaber
You’ll be able to experience the art of wielding a lightsaber and be able to put your skills to the test against a training remote.
Disney also revealed a new type of lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development will be part of the experience and Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests will be the first to see it in action.
Check it out:
The Engineering Room
This “crew-only area” allows guests to explore the inner workings of the ship’s systems.
You’ll be able to operate the ship’s navigation and defense systems under the crew’s guidance.
The Sublight Lounge
As for dining, so far, all we know is guests will be able to enjoy The Sublight Lounge (previously called The Silver C Lounge), a spot to relax and grab a drink.
Crown of Corellia Dining Room
The Crown of Corellia Dining Room will offer breakfast and lunch before transitioning each evening into a multi-course menu of both “otherworldly and familiar origins.”
Guests can also expect “an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.”
The “galactic superstar” will be a featured performer at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Excursion
Unlike any other stay on Walt Disney World property, you’ll even take an exclusive transport to the planet of Batuu and emerge straight out into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Yes, you read that correctly. This is a true “all-immersive experience.”
Pros And Cons
Resort category: Deluxe
WDW Prep Favorite: No
Pros: Coming Summer 2022, this new Star Wars-themed resort will be highly immersive and extremely unique; totally unlike any other resort experience on property
Cons: Disney hasn't released prices yet but we do anticipate it to be pricey, even though Disney bills it as a "2-night, all-immersive adventure"
