I might go into a Costco store 1-2 times per year to shop, but the main reason I have a Costco membership is for the travel perks.
Here are 5 ways to save on a Disney World trip with your Costco membership.
Discounted gift cards
Costco offers a variety of gift cards at a discount, including ones you can use for your trip.
That includes:
- Southwest Airlines
- Landry’s Restaurants (including Yak & Yeti, Rainforest Cafe at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs, and T-REX)
In addition, some promos will give you Disney or Costco gift cards when booking your trip through Costco.
Best rates on car rentals
This is how we book 100% of our car rentals because the rates are so competitive.
In addition, a second driver can be added at no cost when booking a rental through Costco.
Offsite hotels
There are usually several offsite hotel packages available (that include tickets!) to book through Costco, many of which include waiving the daily resort fee, free parking, and providing room upgrades.
The options include many of our favorite offsite hotels, some of which get onsite benefits.
Disney World packages
Your ability to save on Disney World packages will depend on what their current offers are.
However, there are pros and cons to booking packages through Costco.
Pros to booking a Disney World package through Costco
- Might be able to save money if there’s a current promo, but you’ll always want to compare to make sure it’s better than what you can get elsewhere
Cons to booking a Disney World package through Costco
- Won’t work for shorter trips since they usually require at least a 5 night stay
- Deposit required at booking is usually higher than when booking through Disney
- The cancellation policy is more rigid than when booking through Disney
- Working through a third party vs. Disney could cause issues if you need to talk to anybody about your reservation
Travel Insurance
Costco Travel offers travel insurance through Zurich.
You don’t have to book your travel through Costco to be able to buy travel insurance, but it is less expensive to purchase if you book your travel through Costco.
Many times the insurance they provide is at a better price and/or has better coverage than other policies do, but always compare to be sure.
We recommend InsureMyTrip.com (affiliate link) for having a wide selection of policies to compare.
Other things to know
Although the 5 things above are ways to save, there are some other things worth mentioning.
No discounted Disney World tickets available
Although they used to sell discounted park tickets, they no longer have those. The only way to get park tickets through Costco is by booking a package that includes them.
Flights have sometimes been available
Sometimes Costco will offer packages that include flights which is really convenient to get everything in one purchase, but be sure to compare the package price to booking all of the elements individually on your own.
Other types of Disney trips save even more
Although we’ve focused on ways to save on Disney World trips here, there’s even more savings for other kinds of Disney trip, including:
- Disneyland offers usually include getting hundreds of dollars in Disney gift cards which would be fun to cover some other costs during your trip (like food!)
- Adventures by Disney promos usually include getting up to $2000 in Costco gift cards back after booking
- Disney Cruise Line offers include getting a digital Costco gift card
Any other ideas for ways to save using a Costco membership? Would love to add to the list!

Just want to say, those offsite hotel savings are for real. Been there, done that, and it makes the trip so much more affordable. Plus, the kids don't care, they're just excited to see Mickey!

So about the offsite hotels part does it really save that much compared to staying inside the park And how hard is it to get to the parks everyday

Staying offsite can definitely save money, and many hotels offer shuttle services to the parks. It's a bit more hassle but can be worth the savings!

Best rates on car rentals, huh? Every time I book a car, it feels like a new fee pops up that wasn't in the initial quote. Got to read the fine print folks.

The segment on travel insurance was interesting. It's one of those things you don't think about until you need it. Always important to read what's actually covered.
