Following in the footsteps of other runDisney races, the 2021 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend has gone virtual. The cancellation of the in-person race is due to the ongoing pandemic.
On Friday, Dec. 11, runDisney announced the change in plans for the race and also noted that the the virtual event will be held at some point in the future, but a specific date hasn’t been provided yet.
For anyone who registered through runDisney.com, they will be able to receive a full refund for the race back to their original form of payment. It should take anywhere from six to eight weeks to receive the refund.
If you don’t have your original form of payment that you used when registering, you can contact runDisney by Dec. 18, 2020 to receive a refund via check or a Digital Disney Gift Card for the following:
- Race registrations (Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Challenges and Kids Races)
- Commemorative merchandise (automatic refund – no virtual option)
- Processing fee
Those with a shipping address outside of the U.S. will automatically receive a refund back to their original form of payment, as well. But, only participants with a valid U.S. shipping address are eligible for the virtual option.
If you booked through a charity or tour operator, you should reach out to them directly. Athletes who booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company may call them at 407-939-4786.
Those who registered with a U.S. mailing address can also convert their existing registration to the new virtual event.
