5 things that are 100% worth it at Disney World

5 things that are 100% worth it at Disney World

We are constantly asked “is ____ worth it?” about everything at Walt Disney World.

While we totally understand why people ask, it’s a hard one to answer without knowing a person’s interests or budget.

However, these are 5 things we think are well worth the expense for anybody who has the money to spend.

1. After Hours Events

We are huge, huge fans of these because it’s just PURE joy to be able to be in the parks with low crowds, at night (out of the sun!), and being able to hop on rides without worrying about long lines or Lightning Lanes. Oh, and there’s unlimited Mickey bars. 😋

2. Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert parties

An unfortunate reality of most fireworks shows that take place at Magic Kingdom is that they require you to be close enough to the castle to see the projections that are an important part of the show.

That means a very crowded space with lots of people which we’d rather avoid.

The various dessert parties are 1 of our fave things to do to allow reserved viewing and treats. We kinda treat it like our own little lounge in Magic Kingdom where we can come and go to get drinks and treats, and also get our own space to watch fireworks.

3. Minnie Vans to/from Magic Kingdom and Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue

Although we use Minnie Vans often during our trips, there are 2 cases where we suggest a lot of people use them – when headed to/from Magic Kingdom and to/from Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue.

Why? Because Minnie Vans are the only cars allowed in those areas which can make it much, much easier to get in and out.

4. Preferred Rooms at some resorts

Most Value and Moderate Resorts have a Preferred category you can book for a little extra cost per night. And while we used to think this was always a good idea at every resort, we now recommend it mostly at non-Skyliner resorts.

Why not the Skyliner resorts? Because Preferred rooms are closest to the main building and not the Skyliner, so booking a Preferred room may not put you closest to what matters most.

5. Tours – all of them

If I was asked what Disney World does best, I would 100% say “tours” every time. They are so well done, lead by some of the very best Cast Members, and give you access you can’t get on your own.

Do you think the After Hours Events are worth it for a first-time visit? Trying to make the most of every moment and this seems like a good option. Would love more insight!

Hows the pricing for the Minnie Vans though? First time planning a Disney trip and trying to figure if it's worth it for the convenience or just stick to the regular transport. Thanks for the help in advance!

The tours part caught my eye! I've done a few myself and they truly are a hidden gem of Disney World. The Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot is my personal favorite. You guys should definitely check it out if you haven't!

preferred rooms seem like just another way for disney to get more money out of us. does the convenience really outweigh the extra cost? feels like everywhere you turn they're trying to upsell you.
