We finally have an opening date for TRON Lightcycle / Run. The highly-anticipated roller coaster will open on April 4, 2023 at Magic Kingdom!
On Monday, January 9 and Tuesday, January 10, Disney shared cryptic clues teasing the TRON opening date. But we no longer have to crack codes or examine numbers.
It’s definitely been touch and go on when TRON would officially welcome guests.
At the D23 Expo in September 2022, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed that we would see TRON start to run sometime in spring 2023.
Well, he was right.
As described by Disney, “When you enter the queue at Magic Kingdom, you’ll feel as if you’re digitized and transported to the Grid for a special Lightcycle race.”
Team Blue will race against the Grid’s menacing Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory.
Fun fact: the attraction will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.
Before the attraction officially opens, Cast Members will be the first to enter the Grid during special previews. Preview opportunities are also coming Annual Passholders and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members.
We don’t know yet if TRON will have a virtual queue and an Individual Lighting Lane, but we will let you know once we learn more.
