Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios

We finally have an opening date for Hollywood Studios’ newest attraction — Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

The first Disney ride-through attraction starring Mickey and Minnie that will draw guests inside a Mickey cartoon will open on March 4, 2020. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek made the exciting announcement during a special presentation at Walt Disney World on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

That’s not all that was revealed, but so was all of the following:

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser transport ships

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser officially begins “transporting” guests in 2021.

The experience is somewhat like a hotel, but is described as a two-day “immersive vacation” in which guests will enter an exclusive launch pod for travel up to the Halcyon, their starcruiser for the duration of their trip.

Guests will also have a chance to explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is coming to the Play Disney Parks App at Epcot. Players will help Scrooge McDuck, Donald, Launchpad, Webby and the nephews, who are in search of priceless treasure.

Per the Disney Parks Blog, “This will be the next iteration of a popular interactive scavenger hunt around World Showcase guests have enjoyed for years as they experience the magic of possibility at Epcot.”

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along & Epcot Films Receive Opening Date

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along and other films coming to Epcot

The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along (in the France pavilion), new film Awesome Planet (in the Land pavilion), and Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 (in the Canada pavilion) officially debut on Jan. 17, 2020, the same day Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts begins.

Awesome Planet is a 10-minute film that showcases the Earth’s beauty and diversity.

Canada’s film is an update to the former O Canada! movie and will have new scenes, a new musical score, and new narration from Schitt’s Creek‘s Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

The BATB sing-along is directed and produced by Don Hahn, who produced the animated and live-action films. Guests are invited to participate in a twist on the movie that will be narrated by Angela Lansbury, aka Mrs. Potts, and will run in rotation with Impressions de France, which will also receive an upgrade to 4K projection.

First, there is Space 220, the table-service restaurant opening between Mission: SPACE and Test Track in early 2020 in Epcot.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and will even have a special space elevator that will take guests 220 miles above the earth’s surface and offer incredible celestial views.

If that isn’t enough, guests will feel as if they’re “traveling straight up into space to dock next to the Centauri Space Station suspended just beyond the orbit of Mission: SPACE.”

There will even be a spinning wall of produce mimicking Earth’s gravity and representing some of the fresh ingredients used at the restaurant.

Epcot’s Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, located in The American Adventure pavilion and replacing Liberty Inn, will feature a large smoker located in the center of the outdoor bar and seating area of the quick service spot. Guests will be able to try classic barbecue and home-style craft brews here when it opens in December 2019.

Toy Story Land’s newest table-service restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant, will open in Hollywood Studios in 2020. The dining location will make guests feel immersed in the western atmosphere of Woody’s Roundup.

New “EARidescent” decor coming for the 18-mont New “EARidescent” decor coming for the 18-month long 50th celebration that officially begins on October 1.

Colorful outfits for Mickey and Minnie (do you like them better than the previous confetti version?), embellishments on Cinderella Castle, plus projections on the other park icons have been announced so far.

Was hoping for more, but I suspect they’ll be dripping the info out as they learn more about how things are going safety-wise.

What are your thoughts? Will you be making a trip for the 50th? We will!
