Grocery Delivery to Disney Resorts

Grocery Delivery to Disney Resorts

So you are planning a trip to Disney World and think it might be a good idea to have a few groceries in your room. Or, maybe you’re craving something to eat that you can’t get on property. How does all of that work when staying on property?

Thankfully, having groceries delivered to your Disney World resort or even food delivery like DoorDash is relatively easy. Here’s how it works, including addresses for all the resorts.

Why order groceries for your Disney World vacation

We never visit Walt Disney World without stocking up on snacks and drinks for our room. Not only does ordering groceries for our room save us money, having grab and go breakfast items also saves us a bunch of time.

We’ve also found grocery delivery to be especially beneficial for our friends and family members with specific dietary requirements, making it easier for them to access the foods they need without the hassle of searching in gift shops or restaurants.

If you are heading to Disney World, we highly recommend you think about doing the same. And, grocery delivery at Walt Disney World is easier than ever with many national services available at your fingertips.

Top Grocery Delivery services (with cost and pros and cons of each)

Here are our picks for the best ways to have your groceries delivered to your resort:

Kroger delivery (our favorite)

Screenshot of delivery confirmation screen on Kroger app

What it is: The delivery service from national grocery chain Kroger. You place an order on the Kroger app, choose delivery, and add the address of your Disney resort. At checkout, you specify a delivery window that you’d like.

Pros: Reliable service with low delivery fee. If you already use the Kroger app at home, the familiarity with the app and the offerings at the store leave one less thing to learn. The products are not marked up, and coupons are even available for some items in the app. You don’t have to order far in advance. You may even be able to have same-day delivery service.

Cons: You are restricted to only items from Kroger.

Unique features: Easy to use app and can earn Kroger Fuel Points.

Delivery fees: Varies. If you have a Kroger Boost membership, it’s free. If not, delivery fee varies on time of day (you pick the one-hour slot) and ranges from $3.95 to $9.95. Tipping is not allowed if the order is fulfilled by Kroger.

Range of products: Even though Kroger does not have any brick-and-mortar stores in Florida, their warehouse items are comparable to what you find at your neighborhood Kroger. Alcohol is available, too.

Walmart Grocery Delivery

Walmart delivery bag

What it is: Grocery delivery service from one of the local Walmart stores.

Pros: Convenient, especially if you already use at home, and inexpensive compared to some of the independently-owned options. Can order in advance, or even same-day.

Cons: Selection can vary by location. Fresh food is not always up to the quality we prefer.

Unique features: If you already order Walmart pick-up or delivery at home, then having your favorites saved can be helpful.

Delivery fees: Varies. It’s free for Walmart+ members as long as the order is a minimum of $35; for non-members it ranges from $9.95 to $19.95 depending upon the time slot you choose.

Range of products: You choose which nearby Walmart you want to order from and you have the option to order most anything available at that Walmart (including beer and wine).

Amazon Grocery Delivery

What it is: Part of the Amazon family, you can order groceries from your Amazon account. Stores available vary by location. For the Walt Disney World resort-area, shoppers can choose from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market.

Pros: Similar to the advantages of Kroger or Walmart delivery, if you use this service at home, you already have the basics down. Plus, they offer quite a bit of variety of food and household items.

Cons: Service fee is higher than our top option if you are not already an Amazon Prime member.

Unique features: If you already use the grocery delivery service from Amazon, your favorites are saved and you can repeat orders from the past. Plus, if you are an Amazon Prime member, you save 10% on many items.

Delivery fees: These vary. If you are an Amazon Prime member, it’s free delivery. If not, it’s $9.95 for deliveries less than $50, $6.95 for orders totaling $50-$100, $3.95 for orders that are $100-$150, and free for orders of more than $150.

Range of products: Similar to a traditional grocery store, Amazon Grocery Delivery offers food and drink items as well as personal care and basic paper goods household items.

Instacart

What it is: A grocery delivery service that utilizes personal shoppers to pick up and deliver items from nearby stores like Publix, Aldi, Costco and ABC Fine Wine and Spirits.

Pros: Where Instacart shines is in the variety. You can choose from 65 different stores in the area close to Walt Disney World resort.

Cons: The cost can be a big downside here. Store items are often marked up from their in-store price and delivery fees can add up. Also, since this service utilizes personal shoppers, the quality of the shopper can vary widely. You may have one who goes the extra mile to get just what you ordered. Or you may have one that doesn’t want to go down an extra aisle and just marks that item as unavailable.

Unique features: Forget your charging cord? You can order from Best Buy. Need to get some new shorts quickly from Kohls? Or perhaps you have a specialty liquor you would like. The ability to choose specific stores of wide-ranging offerings is a major advantage of Instacart.

Delivery fees: The delivery fees vary. If you have an Instacart+ membership (which is often available as a credit card perk), there is no delivery fee if the order is a minimum of $35 per retailer. If not, delivery fees start at $3.95 and go up from there. Service fees, priority fees, pickup fees and regulatory fees may also be added. Plus, expect to tip your shopper.

Range of products: Depending upon which of the 65 stores you choose, you can get just about any product you would need.

Food delivery apps (Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub)

What it is: food delivery apps that can provide most basic food items from several different locations, including groceries

Pros: usually the fastest delivery option that will allow you to get items within an hour or so

Cons: more limited selection of items so you may not find everything you want, stores often mark up the price of their items slightly within food delivery apps

Unique features: can order both groceries and restaurant food and usually have them within the hour. If you order from restaurants, you’ll need to meet your driver to get your food. If you order groceries, it can be delivered to bell services just like every other grocery delivery option.

Delivery fees: usually free if you order a minimum amount. If you already have a membership like DashPass or Uber One, it’ll be free.

Range of products: groceries are more limited than you’d find in person, so this is best when ordering very basic items

Local delivery options

If you prefer to use a local option for your grocery delivery in the Walt Disney World area, here are three possibilities:

Garden Grocer: longtime delivery service in the Orlando area provides food and household items, alcohol delivery is available; $40 minimum; $15 delivery fee for orders less than $200; time-slots for delivery are either 9 am- 4 pm or 4 pm – 10 pm; cancellation of orders within three days of delivery incur penalties; gardengrocer.com

WeGoShop: independently owned and operated grocery delivery business; alcohol delivery is available (must be present to receive order with alcohol); No order minimum or mark-up on items; delivery fee is based on order size with a minimum fee of $19 and up to 13% of the order if over $300; other fees added based on store shopped and if it is a same-day delivery; tip added; can buy a discounted gift certificate ahead of time; wegoshop.com

Dizzy Dolphin Delivery: created by DVC members, independently owned and operated; food, drinks, and as well as a variety of gift bags; alcohol delivery is available through a third-party and $10 handling fee added; $50 minimum; $14 delivery fee for orders less than $250; must pay at least 7 days in advance; tip can be added at checkout

How Grocery Delivery works at Disney World Resorts

Now you’ve selected how you want to order your groceries. What happens when they arrive?

Most services will drop off the items at Bell Services at your resort.

Bell services at Coronado Springs Resort

Disney-operated resorts all have storage areas to keep your groceries, including industrial refrigerators and freezers to keep your cold things appropriately cold.

Because of this, unless your order includes alcohol, most of the time you will not need to meet your delivery driver in the lobby. You can simply schedule the delivery, make notes in the comment section confirming the details of the resort name and to leave the order at Bell Services, and your order will be waiting at Bell Services for you when you’re ready to pick it up.

Of note, the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve resorts request guests be available to receive their grocery order upon delivery from the grocery service. If guests are not available, grocery deliveries will be left with Bell Services. However, they do NOT provide refrigeration.

Bag tag from Bell Services

If you call for Bell Services to deliver the groceries to your room, Disney will sometimes add a $6 charge to your account. This charge can be hit or miss, but we didn’t want you to be surprised if you saw it appear on your bill. Tipping the cast member who brings them to your room would also be expected.

If you choose to pick up your groceries from the Bell Services desk area, no extra fee is charged. Depending on how many bags the Bell Services cast members are bringing out to you from storage, you may find it appropriate it to tip.

If your order contains alcohol, you may be required to receive it directly from the delivery service. Some services verify age in advance, others do it upon delivery. Double-check when ordering alcohol what the rules for receiving it are. Even if you need to be available to receive it in-person, if your room is not ready yet, Bell Services can store alcohol for you.

Suggestions of things to order

Every family is different, but on a typical trip, this is what our group orders:

  • Bottled water
  • Diet Coke
  • Liquid hand soap
  • Fresh fruit
  • Protein shakes
  • Cold brew coffee
  • Breakfast foods
  • Snacks
  • Trail mix
Grocery items delivered to Coronado Springs resort

As you are creating your shopping list, double-check the amenities in the type of room you are staying in. Standard Disney hotel rooms generally have beverage coolers and NOT refrigerators. So if you have sensitive perishable items, the cooler may not get cold enough.

Suites at Art of Animation as well as Disney Vacation Club Villas have refrigerators and microwaves. DVC rooms that are 1–2- or 3-bedrooms will have full kitchens.

Tips for using Grocery Delivery services at Disney World Resorts

  • Plan Ahead: Determine your grocery needs before you arrive. Consider meals, snacks, beverages, and any special dietary requirements. Remember that room storage and refrigeration may be limited.
  • Schedule Delivery in Advance: Schedule your grocery delivery in advance, especially during peak seasons. Prime delivery times can fill up fast.
  • Coordinate with Your Check-In Time: Plan the delivery for after your expected arrival at the resort. Most services will leave the groceries with Bell Services if you’re not there, but double-check the rules for receiving alcohol if that is in your order.
  • Provide Clear Delivery Instructions: When placing your order, include your name (as on the hotel reservation), resort address, and if you would like the order left at Bell Services. For services like Instacart, you might need to communicate with the shopper for substitutions.
  • Consider Delivery Fees and Minimum Orders: Some services may have delivery fees or require a minimum order amount. Factor these into your budget.
  • Think About Meal Preparation: Remember that room amenities for preparing and eating food might be limited. Choose items that are easy to prepare and consume with basic utensils.
  • Include Non-Food Items: Consider adding items that might be useful during your stay, such as sunscreen, over-the-counter medications, or toiletries, to save a trip to the store.
  • Check for Coupons and Discounts: All of the national services listed above have coupons and sometimes run promotions.
  • Once you return home, Change the Address: If you choose to use an app you normally order from at home, be sure to remove the Disney resort address once your vacation is over. Otherwise, you may inadvertently send your order intended for home to the wrong address. Ask us how we figured that one out.

Other ways to get groceries for your Disney World resort stay

Food at resort gift shop

If you need just a few items or are not interested in having your groceries delivered, here are a few other ways to get groceries at Disney World resorts:

  • Bring them with you. If you are driving or have extra suitcase space, pack nonperishable items and bring them with you.
  • Stop on the way. If you are flying, on your way from the airport to your resort, you can stop at a grocery to shop or pick up an order you placed in advance. You can do this if you rent a car or use a private transportation company that includes a grocery stop in their service.
  • Grab a few items from your resort. The gift shops at the resorts will have a few staple grocery items, as well as travel-sized toiletries and medicines. The Disney Vacation Club resort shops often have a more extensive collection. These will be more expensive than a regular store, but are very convenient.
  • Ship items. If you have specialty needs, shipping items may be the best option. You can ship directly to your resort.

Great article! I have been using Target Delivery, the app will automatically select a Target closest to your delivery area; however, you can change to stores further out to get what you need. Target advertises that the prices are not marked up on delivery. Same exact thing with Walmart Delivery. I believe both stores will let you place an order 10 days in advance. I used to use Garden Grocer but their mark-ups have gotten out of hand. Also, if for any reason your trip falls through, they will not give a refund or credit for future use. I had this happen well in advance of 30-days one year and learned my lesson.

Vacation Grocery Delivery is another very good option. It was started by laid off cast members during the pandemic. It is the best service I’ve used.

Why is it so complicated? At home (admittedly in the UK) the supermarkets run efficient delivery services for £6 or less, more typically £4 (price depends on time slot, morning slots are usually more expensive and evening slots are usually cheap), and sometimes £0 (e.g. an order of £100 or more from Sainsbury's provides free delivery). Why do you have to rely on expensive third party services?

I have an upcoming stay at Shades of Green. Does anyone know how grocery delivery works there? Do they allow delivery, cost, which stores deliver there? Thank you.

We've had great success requesting items not listed on Garden Grocer's site and receiving them. Sometimes it is just a more obscure item so they don't list it, but if it is available in store they will look for it and get it for you!

We are going to Universal for the first time this August and I'm sad that they do not deliver there. I was going to try Prime Now but their selection is just too limited for us. Looks like we'll be trying Instacart- Publix...

Update: We used Instacart for our Universal trip and it worked out great, though contrary to what I had been told, Bell Services at Royal Pacific will not accept delivery on your behalf. We were lucky that our order arrived when we did! Planning a January 2020 trip to WDW and am torn about whether to use Garden Grocer whom we have used many times at WDW and were thrilled with or Instacart because it worked fine and will definitely end up costing less. It's a tough one. I'd love to keep supporting GG, but how much of a premium am I willing to pay in order to do it?
