Now that the 50th anniversary celebration is over at Disney World, we have some changes not just at Magic Kingdom, but also the other parks.
Let’s take a look…
Cinderella Castle
The EARidescent decor will start to come down the weekend of April 1, 2023, including the phased removal of the 50th anniversary embellishments on Cinderella Castle.
As for the paint scheme, there will be no significant changes, according to Scott Gustin. But, you will see Disney World touching up the paint during the removal.
Beacons of Magic
The Beacons of Magic will end at Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. But, do not fret, Spaceship Earth will continue to shine well into the future with light displays each night!
Actually, Disney confirmed that Spaceship Earth will have a special lighting design in the evenings during the Disney100 celebration.
Epcot will serve as the main host of the 100th anniversary celebrating The Walt Disney Company, with the finale happening at Epcot.
The park will have a variety of all-new experiences from September through December, along with other events across Disney World.
Fab 50 Statues
The Fab 50 statues aren’t going anywhere — for right now. Per Disney, “…they may be in our parks beyond the celebration’s official ending for guests to enjoy.”
We will update you if or when we learn the statues are going away for good. It’s nice they’re sticking around a bit longer, especially since they are a big part of MagicBand+.
Magic Kingdom Welcome Show
Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy are in new outfits for the welcome show at Magic Kingdom, which happens five minutes before the park opens each day.
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire remains listed in the My Disney Experience app and on the official Magic Kingdom entertainment schedule.
However, the characters are no longer wearing their 50th costumes, but the same new costumes seen during the welcome show! The show remains the same, except for the new outfits.
Prior to becoming “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire,” the daytime castle stage show at Magic Kingdom was known as “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.”
It’s unclear if the show will return to is former name.
Mickey at Town Square Theater
While Mickey is continuing to meet guests at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom, he’s sporting a different look.
The main mouse is back in his magician outfit! This outfit replaces his former attire, his 50th anniversary suit that he wore during the limited-time celebration.
Cavalcades
The 50th Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom is officially no longer running. You can still catch the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade.
The Mickey and Friends Flotilla that was decorated for the 50th at Animal Kingdom isn’t listed anymore in the app.
As always, you can check the My Disney Experience app for the daily entertainment schedule.
Nighttime Entertainment
There are a few nighttime entertainment changes coming to Epcot and Magic Kingdom.
After Harmonious (and those barges disappear) at Epcot on April 2, 2023, Epcot Forever will return temporarily. Eventually, a new nighttime spectacular will debut for the 100th celebration.
The new show is said to “unite us through commonalities of the heart in a dazzling display of fireworks, lasers, music, and light.” Disney has also said the spectacular “will remind us that we’re more alike than different, connecting our hearts together as one.”
There will also be an original composition, along with select songs from the Disney songbook.
As for Magic Kingdom, Disney Enchantment only runs through April 2, 2023, with Happily Ever After making its grand return on April 3, 2023.
