Lotus House Menu & Review (2023 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival)

The Lotus House booth is in the China pavilion, meaning this is typically a busy area thanks to Frozen Ever After being right next door.

The line can grow here, so plan accordingly.

We aren’t usually fans of this booth at any festival, especially thanks to the drinks being bad and way overpriced. Unfortunately, we still aren’t fans of the food and most of the drinks.

We do recommend Classic Bubble Milk Tea as a non-alcoholic beverage. The presentation is nice and you get a lot for your money.

It’s also important to note that there is finally a vegan option at Lotus House — the Pan-fried Vegetable Dumplings. They aren’t labeled as plant-based, but they are.

While they’re not the most amazing dumplings we’ve ever had, it’s great to see another choice for vegans and vegetarians at the festival.

When it comes to our reviews and ratings, we thought it would be helpful if you had a better understanding of our personal preferences (what we like and don’t like), along with if there are any dietary restrictions.

Here’s a breakdown of not only who is doing the reviews, but a little more information about what each of us likes and doesn’t like food and drink-wise.

Shannon (Founder)

  • Likes: Almost everything
  • Dislikes: Beers that taste “stinky,” anything too salty
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Heather (Editor)

  • Likes: Strong flavors, anything made out of potatoes, white wines, all beers (especially stouts and wheat beers), doesn’t mind sweet (plain fruit is NOT a dessert. Ever.)
  • Dislikes: Things that are too spicy, anything with a bone still in it, cocktails with too much whiskey or tequila (thanks to having too much fun in college), some red wines, most IPAs
  • Dietary Restrictions: Shellfish allergy

Felicia (Content Manager)

  • Likes: Mezcal, savory drinks, stouts/lagers/wheats/sour beers, vinegar, tart/sour items, chocolate, fresh vegetables and fruits, red meat
  • Dislikes: Ciders, sweet drinks, anything milky or creamy, chili powder, cumin, weirded out by textures, mayonnaise, saucy/wet food, cream-filled pastries, artificial fruit flavors, cooked fruits, frozen items (drinks or ice cream)
  • Dietary Restrictions: None

Allyson (Managing Writer)

  • Likes: Cheesecake (the more sweets, the better), anything mint, hazy IPAs and wheat beers (big beer fan), tofu and most Impossible dishes, mushrooms
  • Dislikes: Wine (only likes a few dry ones), cream ales and stouts/porters, super sweet cocktails, floral flavors (lavender, rose), anything almond-flavored, things that are too spicy, olives, meat and seafood (see below)
  • Dietary Restrictions: Vegetarian (personal choice)

Photos & Reviews

Spicy Mala Chicken Skewer

A mala spiced chicken skewer topped with a creamy peanut sauce.

Spicy Chicken Skewer Lotus House
  • Price: $6.75
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 1.7/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Strange texture, has a bit of a kick.
Heather: So fatty. How? It’s chicken. But the texture is not good.
Felicia: The chicken is mushy which is weird. The flavor is okay, not great. Strong peanut flavor and it’s rather salty. I wouldn’t recommend this.

House-made Cheesy Crab Wontons

These are house-made crispy wontons filled with a cheesy crab mixture.

Crab Wontons Lotus House
  • Price: $7.75
  • Special Diets: N/A
  • Rating: 3.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Wanted to love these but the sauce made it soggy and the filling lacked flavor.
Felicia: These are good but nothing special. Standard crab wontons with a sweet and spicy sauce. Fine but not worth stopping.

Pan-fried Vegetable Dumplings

Pan fried dumplings stuffed with a vegetable mixture.

Vegetable Dumplings Lotus House
  • Price: $5.25
  • Special Diets: Plant-based
  • Rating: 2.3/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Just meh. Not great flavors.
Heather: I really wanted to like these! They were difficult to eat and had an odd flavor.
Felicia: Wow, this is gross. Bitter and sour and don’t taste like veggies or dumplings.
Allyson: Finally. A decent option in China for vegetarians. I liked this, but wish the portion wasn’t so skimpy.

Classic Bubble Milk Tea

This is a non-alcoholic Bubble Milk Tea.

Classic Milk Bubble Tea Lotus House
  • Price: $7.75
  • Made with alcohol? No
  • Rating: 2.8/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: A nice surprise at an otherwise meh booth. Big portion, cute cup, great flavor.
Heather: I’m not a huge fan of boba, and this one isn’t bad – but it isn’t great. Just so darn expensive.
Felicia: Tastes like milky black tea. Good if you like that thing, but I’m not into milky things.
Allyson: I’m just not a fan of bubble milk tea. Much too creamy.

Cherry Blossom Pilsner Draft Beer

This Cherry Blossom Pilsner is a pilsner infused with cherry blossom.

Cherry Blossom Pilsner Lotus House
  • Price: $5.25 (6 oz.) / $9.75 (12 oz.)
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 2.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Cherry cough syrup, anybody?
Heather: Smells like Bath and Body Works Cherry Blossom – and that’s not a good thing. Really bad overall flavor.
Felicia: I can’t decide how I feel about this. Tasted like a mix between Wild Cherry Pepsi and beer. I don’t hate it but I don’t know that I like it.
Allyson: Too much cherry flavor for me. I prefer the other beer from last year. Almost tastes like medicine.

Kung Fu Master

Kung Fu Punch is vodka, Triple Sec, mango syrup, orange juice, and soda water.

Tropical Moon Lotus House
  • Price: $14.50
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 2.5/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Great balance of delicious citrus flavors and alcohol. Refreshing.
Heather: Very sweet. Definitely has alcohol. Good for people that don’t want to know that they are drinking.
Felicia: Sickly sweet, not a strong alcohol flavor. The orange and mango flavors are strong. Don’t think it’s worth the price.
Allyson: Tastes like a fuzzy navel. So if you like those, great!

Tang Dynasty

Tang Dynasty is Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila Gold, light rum, strawberry, piña colada mix, soda water, and white boba pearls

Tang Dynasty Lotus House
  • Price: $13.75
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 2.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Way too strong on the alcohol thanks to both tequila and rum. Adding in bobas and pina colada makes it just a weird mix of flavors that don’t work.
Heather: Honestly, this feels like they had a bunch of almost empty bottles of booze and they decided to mix it all together and sell it at a premium price. I AM ON TO YOU, DISNEY.
Felicia: Too sweet for my taste, but it’s fine. Relatively strong but overall kind of pricey and not special.
Allyson: Don’t get this if you don’t like tequila or don’t want a STRONG drink. Tastes like a bunch of alcohol thrown together.

Tropical Moon

Tropical Moon is Smirnoff Vodka, Triple Sec, passion fruit, soda water and white boba pearls. This is a new festival item for 2023.

Kung Fu Master Lotus House
  • Price: $13.75
  • Made with alcohol? Yes
  • Rating: 2.0/5

Our Thoughts

Shannon: Man. Sickening sweet. No no.
Heather: Keep this in mind: this is the last booth so I’ve had some really tasty drinks. This just feels cheap.
Felicia: Best drink I’ve had at a China booth. It’s still too sweet for my liking but the liquor doesn’t assault your mouth and the tropical flavors are fun.
Allyson: Not as potent as the other drinks, but kind of tastes like Kool-Aid and way too watery.
