Today I’m discussing several bits of Disney World news and my thoughts on each one.

I also have a quick tip for people who plan to eat at Hollywood Studios Quick Service restaurants.

  • Innoventions West and part of Innoventions East will be closing in late April
  • Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party is being rebranded as Wishes Dessert Party which will begin on July 5 and include much higher prices
  • Be Our Guest breakfast is now available through June 18
  • Frozen events are returning to Hollywood Studios from June 17-September 7 and include fireworks, a dance party, a twice-a-day cavalcade, and a stage show featuring Olaf. The Frozen Sing-Along will also continue to be available, but it’s moving to the former American Idol Experience theater (which will now be called the Hyperion Theater).
  • A new Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is rumored to be coming to Magic Kingdom

Quick tip of the day

Many/most Quick Service restaurants at Hollywood Studios offer specialty cupcakes that are usually delicious and count as a snack credit (or as a dessert on your Quick Service meal) if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, or they cost you around $5 if you’re not.

I was soooo disappointed in the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party. Everyone rushed the rail. I booked it because I wanted a chance to sit and enjoy fireworks after a long day, and if we had to stand up anyway, we might as well have saved $97 for a family of 4 and eaten Mickey Bars on Main Street. I complained to the manager and he was obnoxious about it.

    • Kristy June 17, 2015

i was wondering about this? So this isn’t part of the dining plan? I was contemplating doing this.

Do you know if they are taking reservations for breakfast at Be Our Guest? When I put any of the days that we will be there in May into the reservation system, it says that no times are available? Is it that popular??? I can get lunch reservations but my picky kids will do better there with breakfast.

Is the Be My Guest Breakfast a character dining experience?

  4. Robyn March 23, 2015 Reply

Thanks for the information on Be Our Guest for breakfast. We’re going to WDW for a week in the fall and I’m wondering if I can book a reservation there on two separate days of our trip or if I’m only allowed one reservation per trip/dining plan package?

    • Robyn March 23, 2015

Nevermind, just now remembering that you said this is a test, so it might not be around come fall.

  5. Erin March 23, 2015 Reply

I heard you mentioned the Epcot Dessert Party… do you have to call to book that party or can you do it online? I think I’d rather have the desserts from Epcot than the ones from MK!

    • Shannon Albert March 23, 2015

You can book that by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. Here’s more info on that party – https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/illuminations-sparkling-dessert-party/

    • Erin March 23, 2015

Thank you! I was absentmindedly looking up “Epcot Dessert Party”… Can’t wait to try it out for our trip in September!

    • Erin March 23, 2015

Nevermind… I just read where you don’t really recommend it! hah, I’ll save my money for other things =)

Regarding the Frozen fireworks shows at Hollywood Studios – are those in addition to, or in place of the Fantasmic fireworks show?

    • Shannon Albert March 23, 2015

In addition to Fantasmic. Fantasmic is shown in its own outdoor amphitheater and the fireworks are shown in the middle of the park.

    • Jewel March 23, 2015

Awesome! We booked the Fantasmic dinner package so I hope we are able to watch both shows, my kids love fireworks.

    • Shannon Albert March 23, 2015

If fireworks happen to be scheduled right after Fantasmic, I suggest exiting Fantasmic using the upper right exit (as you face the stage) which should put you at the front of the park which is a good spot to watch the fireworks.

  7. Amanda March 23, 2015 Reply

We will be there May 31-June 4. Will the Frozen sing along be going on or is it closed until June 17?

    • Shannon Albert March 23, 2015

Be sure to listen to the episode because I discuss that.

    • Amanda March 30, 2015

I have listened and it sounds like it will continue to be open and just move to the new theater June 17. I am able to book Fast passes tomorrow. I was planning to do the Fast pass for the Frozen Sing Along. It still doesn’t show up on the Hollywood Studios schedule for the 1st week of June. So I guess my question should have been: Do you think it will be closed for a short time (early June) in order to move into the new theater?

    • Jen March 30, 2015

I just listened and didn’t hear you address if it will be closed and for how long?

I just got back from a five night stay at Coronado Springs and had the best time! Even though I went during the busy season I barely waited in any lines and was able to do everything I wanted!

For original vintage pieces, search “Lefton Christmas ceramics” or “Napco Christmas ceramics.” These often run you $100+ and can usually be found on Etsy, eBay, and other resale stores.

For less expensive replicas, check out VermontCountryStore.com which has a small - but more affordable - collection, including the trio of candy cane girls.

They haven’t been appearing as reliably as Alice, Mary Poppins, Joy, and Winnie the Pooh, but be sure to be on the lookout when passing the Royal Sommerhus in Norway where they might just show up.
