Ideas for surprising kids with a Disney World trip – PREP020

Lots of parents have dreams of surprising their kids with a trip to Disney World. Today, I have some ideas for how you might want to pull off the surprise (just be sure to not have super high expectations for their reaction – you never know how it’s going to go). I also have a quick tip on preventing motion sickness on a ride at Epcot.

Getting chosen for special events at Disney World – PREP018

There are several special things you can be chosen for at Disney World like parades, shows and park openings. Today, I’ve got an interview with somebody whose family has been chosen for all of those things. She shares her experiences and tips on getting picked for these special things that can bring a little extra magic to your trip. I also have a quick tip that will let you know a shortcut to exiting one of the nighttime shows.

3 DIY Disney invitations

3 DIY invitations to use during your Disney World trip

I recently asked people on the Facebook Page for requests for things to design and the most popular request was for invitations that could be used on Disney World trips. I loved that idea and today, I have 3 different DIY options that I think are really fun. Two of these could be done for free and are pretty simple. The third is so charming you might just find it worth the extra steps. Let’s take a look…

Build your own Disney theme park-style buttons

When you go to a Disney theme park, you can get a few buttons for free from the resorts and guest services. There are options for people on their 1st visit, celebrating a birthday, just married, etc. But what if you’re celebrating something else? I’ve got templates in Microsoft Word, Photoshop and Gimp to help you build your own. Let’s take a look…

How to have a lazy Disney World trip

(Article last updated: April 13, 2016) Soooo…let’s say you’ve read lots of planning advice and your reaction was “WTH?! I’m on vacation. I don’t want to do all of that.” While that will never be me on a Disney World trip (I think it’s fun to spend months putting together a plan and then get up early to see the parks open), I can respect that there are many styles of vacations. Here are my ideas on how to have a more laid back Disney World trip…

Disney trivia lunchbox notes

Article last updated: August 22, 2016 I’ve created a couple batches of business-card sized lunchbox notes containing Disney trivia. These would be fun to use for kids (or adults, I won’t judge) who are headed to Disney World. Print them off, write a personal note on the back and surprise somebody in their lunchbox.

Vacation travel bag ideas by age

When we went on our recent trip to Orlando, I posted pics on the Facebook Page throughout the trip and many people told me they thought it was cute that my big kids still liked having me pack a travel bag to keep them busy en route. The truth is that I did these bags when they were little and then stopped once they got older because I figured they could handle keeping themselves busy. They could but….they really missed having me surprise them on each trip. Here are some ideas by age group that you might like to help

Painted medicine bottles = cute coin containers

There are lots of opportunities to use coins at Disney World which has resulted in many people using mini-M&M containers to store quarters and pennies on their trip, including me. Here are ones I made for a trip we took that included some of our nephews and nieces…

Gift ideas for Disney World-bound families

For most families that are planning trips to Disney World, it’s a big deal. It’s also an expensive deal. This is a good chance to get extended family involved and have them get gifts that will make the trip even more special and reduce some of the costs for you. Here are some ideas…

11 Secrets of Animal Kingdom

Disney has always been super sneaky in creating an environment that looks the way they want it to look, but may not always be what it seems. When Animal Kingdom opened in 1998, Disney had to work really hard to create their ideal environment, an especially huge challenge because it involved live animals. Here are 11 of the secrets that went into creating Animal Kingdom…

Drinking your way through Disney World

(Article last updated: February 15, 2017) For many of us who stay on-site and don’t drive, the freedom to have a few drinks here and there makes for a fun (and sometimes tipsy) vacation. There are lots and lots of different drinks to try, many of them very unique and hard to find anywhere else. Here’s a sampling of over 20 of the most interesting/delicious drinks you will find when you are drinking your way through Disney World.

20 unique Disney World souvenir ideas

(Article last updated: December 5, 2017) There might be a million different souvenirs you can buy at Disney World (and I’m convinced 90% of those are located at the World of Disney store in Disney Springs) but for brevity’s sake, I’ve pared it down to a list of 20 unique Disney World souvenir ideas I think you’ll like. Some general advice on souvenir shopping: buy it when you see it, you may not see it again. There are lots of items unique to a location and there’s a chance you won’t come across it later. If you’re staying on-site, you can

16 Magic Kingdom fonts (and they’re all free)

(Article last checked: April 11, 2016) I’m appealing to your creative side today and have gathered 16 different free fonts for you to use. A lot of people use the basic Walt Disney font (you can get the Waltograph font here) but for a little extra credit, you can get even more specific and use some of the fonts from each park, the lands within each park and/or from the rides themselves. These are great for scrapbookers as well as anybody wanting to do a Magic Kingdom-inspired DIY project because they saw it on Pinterest. (I’m super jealous of all
