A deep dive into the Canada Pavilion at Epcot (dining, entertainment, gardens)

A deep dive into the Canada Pavilion at Epcot (dining, entertainment, gardens)

One of the most unique and best parts of Epcot is the World Showcase, which is home to a total of 11 countries.

While many guests are consumed with riding all of the attractions or drinking around the world, more people should take the time to explore the ins and outs of each country pavilion.

There’s so much to see, eat, drink, and explore. And, in some pavilions, there’s even exclusive entertainment.

Not to mention, you might just stumble upon some of the most gorgeous views that you wouldn’t believe are inside a theme park.

If you want to know more about the Canada pavilion at Epcot, go no further. Here we take a deep dive into the country that doesn’t get enough love.

Dining

Canada’s dining is limited compared to some of the other pavilions. But, here you can find 1 Quick Service, which is simply an outdoor cart, and 1 Table Service restaurant that many guests love, including us!

Le Cellier

le cellier steakhouse - canada - Epcot

Location type: Table Service
Type of food: American, Steakhouse
Meals Served: Lunch and dinner

  • On the Disney Dining Plan? Yes, 2 table service credits
  • Pros: Some of the best steak on Disney property, quiet, intimate dining area
  • Cons: Reservations can be hard to get since the dining room is so small, menu is pricy

Le Cellier Steakhouse might be the only Table Service restaurant (reservations are highly recommended) in the Canada pavilion, but it’s a worthy option.

The dining location serves both lunch and dinner. There are even several plant-based offerings on the menu.

le cellier steakhouse - canada - Epcot

Most notably (as you can see above and below), the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, the Baby Iceberg Wedge Salad, and the pretzel bread and rolls with butter are usually our go-to here.

And these are just appetizers, meaning these are much more affordable offerings compared to the entrees.

Popcorn in Canada

This might look like your standard popcorn theme park cart, but it is so much more.

Why? Because this is where you can buy the very delicious Maple Popcorn that also happens to be plant-based just like regular Disney popcorn!

maple popcorn - canada - Epcot

Snack-wise, you’ll only be able to purchase popcorn here (both maple and original-flavored).

Drink-wise, you’ll find both alcoholic (Canadian beer, plus more options) and non-alcoholic choices, like Frozen Coca-Cola.

  • Cons: No indoor seating, but there is a small number of standing tables nearby

Side note: While not an official dining location in Canada, Refreshment Port is a Quick Service spot nearby.

We feel it’s important to mention since it sells Traditional Poutine, a Canadian staple.

If we do say so ourselves, this Traditional Poutine is a solid menu item.

Seating Areas

Finding a place to sit is important during a busy day walking around the World Showcase, and Canada has some of the best seating.

canada seating area - Epcot

You will find multiple benches stationed around Canada. Plus, these benches come with stunning views. The pavilion truly is gorgeous.

canada table area - Epcot

As you can see above, you might even stumble upon some standing tables if you need a quick place to eat a snack (ahem, Maple Popcorn), or drink a fine Canadian beer.

Keep your eyes peeled, because there really are benches in every nook and cranny you look.

Also, an important note: Typically during Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, the Appleseed Orchard booth will be housed inside where Canada Far and Wide plays.

Yes, this means the show won’t run during the lengthy festival, but the space provides tables, select seating, and air conditioning during those hot Orlando summer days.

Shops

You’ll find 3 different shops inside the Canada pavilion, with each selling unique Canadian-inspired items. One of the stores even has a bar.

Northwest Mercantile

First, there is Northwest Mercantile. Here, you can find fun T-shirts, coffee mugs, Mickey ears, tumblers, and so much more.

Trading Post

Then, there is the Trading Post. Here, you’ll find a range of souvenirs to browse, just like you can at Northwest Mercantile.

But, one unique aspect of the Trading Post is — it has a bar!

You can purchase Canadian beers and Icewine. If the popcorn cart outside the pavilion has a long line, you may want to visit the Trading Post’s bar.

Outdoor Merchandise Kiosk

There is also an outdoor merchandise kiosk, where you can buy clothing, accessories, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Attractions

While this isn’t a thrill ride, Canada does have its very own show that’s not only eye-catching, but narrated by hugely popular (and hilarious) Canadian actors.

Canada Far and Wide in Circle Vision 360

Canada Far and wine - Epcot

Canada Far and Wide is a 12-minute Circle-Vision 360 presentation, meaning the screen wraps around the entire theater.

This is an updated version of the former film that used to play here, but still gives a breathtaking look at the Great White North.

It’s even narrated by Schitt’s Creek stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, who also hail from Canada.

Canada Far and wide - Epcot

If you’re prone to motion sickness, know that the film can be a little disorienting at times.

The theater is standing-room only, but it is accessible to those using a wheelchair or other mobility devices.

There is also a separate entrance to the theater that is wheelchair accessible (just follow the signs).

Canada Far and Wide does have hearing and visual disability services for those who need them.

Canada Far and wide showtimes - Epcot

Canada Far and Wide is listed in the My Disney Experience app, but there aren’t official showtimes because it runs continuously throughout the park day.

Entertainment

There is one main form of entertainment in Canada on The Mill Stage, which you can find as you head towards the United Kingdom pavilion.

Alberta Bound

Alberta Bound - Canada - Epcot

Alberta Bound is a folk band who sings, you guessed it, Canadian songs. They even perform different hits from other Canadian artists, like Shania Twain.

They are quite good and make for a great pit stop if you need a break or are looking for some entertainment.

Alberta Bound showtimes - Canada - Epcot

You can find showtimes in the My Disney Experience app and posted on the board near the stage.

They play about a 30-minute set.

Better yet, there are even benches that are partially covered by umbrellas. This makes for a great spot to rest if you need it.

Off Kilter used to play here, but their performances ended in 2014.

Activities

The Canada pavilion may not be known for its activities, but there are several worthy ones to take note of.

Victoria Gardens

First, we have the Victoria Gardens.

Trust us when we say you have to walk through these on your way around the World Showcase.

They are absolutely breathtaking and make for some great photos.

Kidcot Fun Stop

Like the 10 other country pavilions in the World Showcase, Canada also has a Kidcot Fun Stop location.

This makes for a fun family-friendly activity that not only keeps little ones interested as you walk around to each country, but is educational.

All you have to do is visit each station. Then, you can collect an activity card detailing facts and activities featuring the culture and traditions of each country.

Above is the collectible card Canada offers.

These stops are completely complimentary, making for the perfect souvenir and activity.

You can find Canada’s Kidcot stop at the exit of Canada Far and Wide.

Save this checklist and have your little one check off each Kidcot Fun Stop as you make your way through each country.

Coin Press Machine

For $1.00, you can use this coin press machine to create Canadian and Disney-themed pressed pennies. Many of theme feature Mickey and friends — skiing!

You can either pay $1.00 for each or $5.00 for all 8.

Critter Crossing

Have you ever heard of Critter Crossing?

This small trail is located next to the Disney Vacation Club kiosk and behind where Canada’s festival food booths are usually built.

critter crossing - Canada - epcot

Not only are there benches to sit on, but this make a great area for little ones.

They can search for different animal tracks.

Plus, there are even interactive elements that encourage kids to “touch the heart of each animal to hear the sounds of Canada’s wildlife.”

At the end, there are statues of a bear, an eagle, a wolf, and an owl.

Picture Spot

picture spot - Canada - Epcot

This isn’t an official Disney PhotoPass spot, but it is a picture spot that many enjoy taking photos at for a good laugh.

If you can’t tell, you simply put your face in the open hole and have your picture taken by whoever is in your party.

Best Fireworks Views

Canada only has a couple viewing spots for fireworks, but they are all pretty decent ones.

Along the fence directly across from the stairs you take up to the main pavilion offers a great view.

There’s also a good section along the fence directly across from The Mill Stage. You just want to make sure trees aren’t directly in your line of sight.

harmonious viewing area in canada

There are 2 nearby wheelchair accessible viewing sections (next to Port of Entry and towards the United Kingdom) for guests in wheelchairs and anyone in their party.

These areas will be roped off and are first-come, first-served. They can fill up fast, so you need to make sure you arrive at a decent time.

Other reasons Canada makes a great spot to watch fireworks:

  • You can find restrooms around the corner from Refreshment Port and in the United Kingdom pavilion
  • There are multiple options for food and drinks if anyone gets hungry or thirsty
  • There are plenty of activities in the pavilion to keep both adults and kids entertained (walk through the gardens, Kidcot Fun Stop, watch Canada Far and Wide if you grab a fireworks spot super early, listen to live entertainment nearby)

Here’s what the view looks like from Canada when you’re standing across from the festival booth:

harmonious epcot

We’ve watched the nighttime spectacular from here on multiple occasions. You can’t see things head on, but that doesn’t take away from the show at all.

Overall, this isn’t a bad spot whatsoever.

Be sure to grab a spot for fireworks at least 60 minutes before showtime. Space can fill up quickly.

You can find showtimes listed in the My Disney Experience app.

Friendship Landing Boats

friendship landing - Epcot - near Canada

The Friendship boats dock isn’t stationed directly in the Canada pavilion, but it is nearby (closer to Refreshment Port).

There are two internal routes: one that runs between Canada and Morocco and the other that runs between Mexico and Germany.

friendship boat - Epcot

Usually beginning at 11 a.m., the Friendship boats will start running across World Showcase Lagoon.

Boat schedules can vary depending on several factors, like weather.

The boats typically run about every 15 minutes. They will cease running at a certain point each evening due to the fireworks show. A final departure time will be posted at each dock, so pay attention.

Restrooms

While Canada doesn’t have its own set of restrooms, you can find 2 nearby.

There is one around the corner from Refreshment Port right as you enter the World Showcase at the Port of Entry.

There is also a set in the United Kingdom pavilion across from Rose & Crown and near the red telephone booths.

Both restroom areas are within a short walking distance from Canada.

Festival Exclusives

Like every other country in the World Showcase, different festival exclusives can be found in the Canada pavilion.

This is for all 4 Epcot festivals: Food and WineFestival of the HolidaysFestival of the Arts, and Flower and Garden.

These include (to name a few):

We encourage you to take the time to explore the Canada pavilion. It’s one of the most underrated World Showcase countries.
