Complete Guide to The Villas at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (w/review)

The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a Deluxe Villa Resort at Walt Disney World, in addition to a Disney Vacation Club Resort. The Villas are located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, meaning the resort is close to Magic Kingdom and has some unforgettable views.

The resort is known for having access to the Monorail, along with its well-known exterior design similar to the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California.

Also located on property are Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, a Disney deluxe resort.

Here’s what you need to know about the Villas at Grand Floridian.

Pros and Cons

Pros: One monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom, very elegant theming, great on-site dining options, can take boat to Magic Kingdom, walking path to Magic Kingdom, view of Magic Kingdom fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant, 50 minute specialty cruise for up to 10-12 people available at the marina

Cons: Expensive, transportation to parks other than Magic Kingdom can take a while (shared buses, have to transfer monorails to get to Epcot), not as kid friendly as other resorts

Just like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the Grand Floridian Villas embodies the Victorian and Palm Beach’s golden eras.

The Villas share dining, shops, pools, and more with the Grand Floridian Resort, but are still special on their own. For example, guests can book either a deluxe studio or a multi-bedroom villa. They offer more than your standard room, including some having a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a spacious living area.

This resort is more expensive for obvious reasons. Between higher-priced dining, having access to water transportation, buses, and the Monorail, providing views of Magic Kingdom, and serving as host of the famous Disney Wedding Pavilion, both the Resort and Villas have a lot to offer guests.

There’s even a convention center nearby, the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Convention Center.

Here’s what else you need to know about the Villas.

Guest Rooms And Bathrooms

You can book two types of room at the Villas: one, two, or three bedroom villas or deluxe studios. Depending on the room you book, you can even sleep up to 12 adults.

Standard amenities are featured in each room, including a hairdryer, TV, free WiFi, a coffee maker, telephone, in-room safe, and an iron and ironing board. The Villas also include some great amenities like a microwave, a fully-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, mirror TVs in all bathrooms, and even a Blu-Ray player.

As for the studios, they also have some unique and beneficial features like a kitchenette with microwave and a small fridge, mirror TVs in all bathrooms, and a Blu-Ray player.

Plus, there’s a range of views, including the lake, the Monorail, the courtyard, landscaping, and the parking area.

If you’re wondering about outlets and USB ports, there are both scattered about (more outlets than USB) for whatever you may need to plug in or charge. Regarding storage, there is plenty of closet and drawer space.

The deluxe studio beds have doors underneath that slide open for luggage. These beds also have drawers. The bathrooms have some counter space, along with drawers.

Here are the rooms available to book. You can check out room layouts below.

Checking In And Out

When it comes to checking in and out, you have a few options: at the front desk, online through the official Walt Disney World website, or via the My Disney Experience app.

The front desk is located in the lobby of the Villas building, which is separate from the building. Even though the front desk is there to assist guests, especially with checking in and checking out, all Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to check-in online or by using MDE.

  • Checking-In: After you check-in online or using the app, you’ll receive a room-ready notification via next. You can then use your MagicBand or MDE’s digital key feature to unlock your room door.
  • Checking-Out: Currently, guests will automatically be checked out of their rooms. But, if you have unresolved charges to your hotel folio, you’ll need to visit the front desk.

Note: Guests also have the option of to chat virtually with resort Cast Members via MDE for any assistance.

The lobby is a nice size and quite stunning. It even has an adorable Mary Poppins-themed fountain featuring the penguins.

As for the pickup and dropoff location for Mears Connect (which is the replacement for Magical Express) and the bus stop, you can find those near the main lobby, along with luggage storage for those who have checked out or are waiting to check in.

Note: Resort Airline Check-In and Magical Express are no longer available.

Package & Delivery Pick Up

You can have packages and groceries delivered to your Disney Resort hotel, along with shipping select items home.

Disney used to have a service where you were able to purchase items in the parks and then have them delivered to your resort’s gift shop. However, that service has been unavailable for several years now.

Parking

Although parking at Disney World resort hotels used to cost a nightly fee for resort guests, Disney has changed their policy so that parking is now free for all on-site resort guests. This change was implemented on January 10, 2023.

Valet parking is also available for $33 per night.

Complimentary standard self-parking is available for non-resort guests exploring dining, shopping, entertainment, and other experiences during the day.

We also have a complete Walt Disney World parking guide you can browse.

Important: Valet parking might not always be available.
